Do you zone?

I want to see how many and how often TA's go to comfort zone (specifically on Sunday)

Ok here is the deal with "The Zone". Underground club with a very sketchy crowd, lots of 300 pound shirtless steroid monkeys slappin each other on the ass, fucked up girls on G and other bathtub chemicals and the rudest bouncers in the city. From what ive said so far, sounds like the worst place on earth to party.....well, i havent got to the good stuff yet. You have djs in there (Addy, Deko-ze, Glasgow, to name a few) who seem to hit another level when spinning in this club. The music is as dirty and grimey as the actual club, and is so infectious that for the most part you lose yourself in the music and forget about your somewhat disgusting surroundings. Not everyone in the club is as i described though, ive met some of the coolest people in there who came for the same reason as i....the music. If you havent been, and have heard a lot of the nasty things floating around about this club, i recommend you going just once to check it out. Its just something youve got to experience....dancin your ass off at 2 in the afternoon watching NFL football to the dirtiest music on the planet.

Smiling Frog Hmm....

Well have gone a few times....when I wanted to continue hearing music.....it is grungy...and the ppl are fucked but they do play nice music...or at least when I've gone...lol....wouldn't make it a habit though...

Funny this topic comes up, i was talking to samhouse and nismo about this, and they told me it's utter shite full of sketchy people etc. on sat. nights, and that thursdays are not so bad, and the music is fucking nice nonetheless. But i still voted that i will never set foot in that place.

Posted by CrasherKid on Nov-01-2003 19:21:

The music is best on sundays tho, start the morning off with Addy's Continental Breakfast cant complain!! The mornings(sunday) have alot of people comming from other parties, its later on in the day and going into the night its gets really bad with sketch pads.

Posted by AwakenedAddict on Nov-01-2003 19:26:

went to the zone today in fact :P joined the sketch pad massive.... i voted "i'll go there after a big party"

The analogy of DJs taking things to another lvl @ the zone is bang on!

It's where many of the city's best, including Mark Oliver, Mark Scaife, Kenny Glaskow, Deko-ze, and Addy all have a Sunday residency.

And often they have the weekend's head-liners from special events playing as well. I remeber a recent set by Parks & Wilson @ System that was ok... but come Sunday night @ the zone, it was one of the dirtiest, hardest, most pounding sets I'd heard this year.

A place like Comfort Zone is an enviroment where the DJs know they can pretty much do anything, like break out an older track, knowing that the crowd is gonna go off.. (I'll never forget Scaife dropping Prodigy's Outer Space on my birthday a few years back).

Like any place, you need to feel comfortable, and making sure you have some like-minded people will ensure your time @ the Zone is memorable.

I used to go religously, but I've been too busy lately to bother.. mnust..go...soon...

There's no poll option for "no, but I'd like to check it out."

Posted by MarkT on Nov-01-2003 23:00:

^^^^^ ditto...I've heard the stories...but I'd like to see it first hand...with a large group of friends

Posted by jdjd on Nov-02-2003 00:29:

I cant vote on this poll but id fall under the second category, but sometimes if im not out late saturday ill wake up and go Sunday afternoon for a while...

To clear up a few things, there isnt as much fucked up people as you think, most people there look sober or just mashed out.

The music kicks ass, I never used to like house, but that place is turning me into a house-head heh

Posted by DigitalMP on Nov-02-2003 04:11:

yes, yes, yes. The Zone is very Sunday Morningalicious

It's grimy, but get your eyes accustomed to the darkness, and party with your peeps. After going a few times, you'll end up recognizing people there, coagulate with them, and become considered grimey yourself

Deko-ze + Addy = DirtyDirty!!

Posted by samhouse on Nov-02-2003 06:20:

if ure the kind of person who reacts strongly to people around you...chances are you wont like it....but if you can plant ureself on that dance floor and learn the magnificent art of "ignorage" you will have a blast.....Deko was unbelievable at system last night...but i have to say this morning at zone he was that much better....i wouldnt make it a habit but i definately go after a big party or if im still feeling it...gonna make it out more when deko is playing now.

*note
i wouldnt go there alone..but thats just me

Posted by charmscars on Nov-03-2003 03:24:

i have a visceral reaction to ppl who are really messed up. i can't take it in small doses..i know that i would have a hard time w/ the zone, so i will never go.

i've heard this from ppl too. i like the idea of if you want to go somewhere at a time like sunday at 7pm to hear some good music and dance for a bit that there's somewhere to go...and that most of the really messed up peeps are clearded out...but i'm still aprehensive.

Posted by dallastar on Nov-03-2003 17:58:

always will be a sktchy shit whole

If you check it out and you ewnjoy being tehre - take a second chance to rank your brain for a second a opinion! It sucks... it's a scum whole where bugs crawl too and get all dirty - as far as I am concerned there is a nightcrawler/sniffler crowd there.

All the power to you *~* if you end up going *~* and if you haven't already - where the hell have you been lately??? (the last at least 5 ytearS~!)

It's dark, it's sketch, it may be just for you, but NOT for me! Have fun if you go - and just remeber I told you so!!!

well thats pretty much why, mind you i havent been there in about a year or so, but i don't see why anything would change... anyways, if you wanna hear the best prog house in the city, then that's definitely the place...

My Experience..

I am pretty new to the scene, and have heard of the Zone on many occasions. The whole "afterhours" thing kinda freaked me out, I didnt really get it and wondered what kind of ppl would actually be there (I had a clue mind U, I knew they would be flying, coming down, or recovering from the nite b4) <-- I understand that some ppl might go occasionally when they are feeling amazing after a wicked show, but I heard there were regulars and that was the weirdest things for me I suppose ANYHOW after Guy Ornadel I decided to go once and for all with another couple. I am glad I went just to see it, But I will never go back. I was trying so hard to push away the disgust, and dirty feeling of being there..I managed for a while thank god.
So in conclusion, I am glad I went, never again... but I wish there was a cool place with that concept, minus the dirt and scary ppl that grab your ass every F*cking minute...

Oh yeah, that reminds me, LADIES NEVER EVER go without a BF, GUY friends, or a whole bunch of ppl

which is exactly why you should only go on sunday evenings

Posted by samhouse on Nov-03-2003 21:43:

sunday evenings kick ass

Posted by technoslut on Nov-04-2003 00:44:

When Comfort Zone was buzz...I think like 5 years ago?! I used to go there all the time & the place kicked ass!!! It was always an amazing vibe - free water & cheap drinks.....candlelit in the back of the club the right of the DJ booth.....Always great music, and yes then to they used bring some headliners from the night before to spin.
If I didn't go to the party the night before I went to buzz....it was a sunday ritual! I did stop going however not to soon after it became Comfort Zone, only because the people going changed, alot of sketchers, strippers & yes steriod freaks - bringing with them bad energy. People create the vibe, not the venue...and I have heard latley that place has changed has a great vibe again!....I wouldn't mind checking it out and seeing for myself!
