Did anyone else see?

Its 5:16 a.m... I'm sitting out on my terrace fulling enjoying my first cigarette after a hard nights work, and as usual, listening to my favorite Armin tracks...

When suddenly, the sky flashes in many different colours. Vibrant greens, blues, and white. It had a strobe like effect, somewhat. But it was in the sky? In the distance? Right after witnessing these amazing flashes in the sky, I hear a strange noise... Not necessarily a *boom* but something significant...

Did anyone else see this?

Caused by the largest electromagnetic storms coming from the sun in over 80 years.

I'm amazed that some people haven't heard about the Aurora Borealis phenomenon by now. Happens all the time in extreme northern latitudes (canada and north):

Posted by squirrelly on Nov-01-2003 18:36:

I live in Orlando. It was an wicked sight! I wonder the next time it will happen? No, I didn't know about the phenomenon obviously.

it is the northern lights, i see them all the time. It's also bloody cold in canada right now and there is snow and ice everywhere in alberta. So maybe our ice crystals in the sky have shimmered their way down south for you to enjoy in your nice warm environment.

Posted by Lumps on Nov-01-2003 20:30:

Best northern lights I saw was last year or the year before... There was 2 HUGE red streaks that went parallel from one side of the sky all the way to the other right down the middle with white shooting out from them.. Anyone from alberta MUST remember this. You can see them a couple times per week around here, although it's rarely anything as vibrant as those pics.

It didn't last long, only maybe thirty seconds, it reminded me kind of a strobe
