Hallofest San Francisco
Yeah so a big rave just went down over in China Basin by Pac Bell Park in Frisco. It had 5 different stages with all the good shit: progressive house, trance/techno/, club anthems, Bay Area locals and Hip Hop. But the people who were hosting it, Cool World, they were Hella disorganized. The flyers said the rave was gonna start at 9 and they weren't even letting people in until 10:30 And I went there so I can see my cousin's homies spin their sets: DJ Rub-N and DMS. Well DMS had already spun his set before me and my coz even got inside the place, and DJ Rub-N didn't even get a chance to spin at all. Plus all the D.J.'s were spinning at times that didn't even match the flyers. So organization-wise, it was all f'ed up. But the sets spun by the other D.J's were cool, and a lot of people wore some interesting costumes. I think next time I go to a rave on Halloween I'm gonna have to dress up. I esp. loved DJ Dan's session and unfortunately missed Peter Go-Zania's set.
I am sure a large part of the disorganization was because Coolword lost a lot of the licenses from their original plans after complaints from locals with what they were hearing about the event (basically that it was a 10,000+ person event) among other things.
They lost the licenses like a week ago, maybe two.
An example of how dramatic things changed because of it was that Hybrid was supposed to do a live act with the original plans, but since everything was greatly condenses and the number of people being allowed was down to under 1,000 people, their gig was changed to just a DJ set.
