Ever get that thing with rollin bass

ever get that thing where when making a bassline etc, after a while it just sounds like the beging of the bass played over and over instead of actualy in between the kicks(rolling bassline)?

I change my bass over and over because of it

Do you want people to help you or what?

Posted by Damie Mckeown on Nov-04-2003 20:53:

heheh, Im only joking.

Besides its not actualy a problem its just a thing your ear does after a while it singles out the bass and it sounds very out of place

Posted by dbl on Nov-04-2003 22:01:

isntead of saying that we suck... give us a sample or we can't help you.. how hard is that to understand?????

Posted by Damie Mckeown on Nov-04-2003 23:00:

Woha, guys I was only jk when I said you suck, it was like when someone cant come up with a clever answer and they say, yeah...........well....well YOU SUCK
I didnt mean it guys

and the reason I aint posted a sample is because im talking about rolling basslines, they are in allmost every dance song.

Obvioulsly its something not as noticable as I thought

Posted by Damie Mckeown on Nov-04-2003 23:11:

basicly after a while the bassline sounds like it came before the kick and if you concentrate on it to much it sticks out and sounds funnay *dies*

Posted by teknasia on Nov-05-2003 08:18:

yeah i know what you mean.. first you're just listening to the whole track.. after a while you're concentrating on the bassline.. and it's gonna sound strange....

it's like thinking of a simple word like "bird"
after a while it's like... "Bird"? wtf.. strange word..

or something like that hehe

Yeah this happens to me alot too. What I usually do is make the bass sample cut off after only 1/16th of time playing or sooner... The faster cutoff kind of helps the kick be more pronounced. I also let the kick me a little louder than the bass.... In horrible situations I'll do the same thing to the hi hats - making them cut off quicker so your ear starts to hear the offbeat things as being short, and it helps.

I dunno.

Best thing to do is take a break, your ears get tired especially when listening to bass for to long. Or maybe you are just realising that it sucks.

Posted by dbl on Nov-05-2003 11:38:

this isn't just for the bass.. it's for all the sound.. if you keep concentrate on one of the hihats or something it all sounds fucked up.

so this isn't just for rolling basslines...

i hate when i do it caus then the hole song i like ruined and i gotta wait till i listen to it again :/
