Gabriel and Dresden Losing Steam...

old days:
911 remix of new order-someone like you
Paul Oakenfold-southern sun remix...(one of best tunes of 2002)
Gabriel and dresden-Lament
medicine8
andain-summercalling
and others..

New:
kristine w-save my_soul(gabriel_and_dresden)
Jewel - Intuition (Gabriel & Dresden Hi-Tek Digital Mix
Deborah Cox - Play Your Part (Gabriel and Dresden Mix)
dave_gahan-ineedyou(gabriel and dresden remix)
lili_haydn-anything(gabriel and dresden remix)
Britney Spears - Me Against The Music (Gabriel & Dresden Mix)....

I honestly use to bow down to these producers but it seems like now their tracks rather than being dark/gloomy with a sentimental emotion layered over it, the tunes are just utter crap and too commercial.
Their latest remix....me against the music is the last straw..I had the opportunity to hear it last night..(somewhere )...and was completely shocked to how far these guys have come.
Traveling from the depths of pure emotional euphoric dance to complete tasteless garbage...

sad to see these guys going into a downward spiral

They produce under attention deficit if im right, and they have been putting out some good productions as of late.

lol You people make me sick with your Annoying stupid Comments what you call Opinions to get out of it... Why dont you look at it in a better way... You actually thing G&D sound has been going bad? lol Then I would recomend you to just go and listen to Hiphop R&B or some Hardcore for all I care... G&D Sound has been getting Better and Better.. And I am very happy for them actually because not many Electronic music producers Can get their names out into the pop world to Promote electronic music... For some point I stop to think I dont want Electonic music to go Mainstream... But with Beautiful Productions by Sander k, Junkie Xl, Infusion, G&D, Markus Schulz, Trifactor etc.. When a Pop music is remixed it at least gives those Closeminded pop listeners another Chance to look at the Electronic music... And where is this Fuckin Hate coming from anyways? Is it fuckin Jelousy? Or is it just people with nothing to do just wanna have an Opinion of some kind... Stop that shit.. ELECTRONIC MUSIC IS ALL ABOUT LOVE.. And to me ITS ALL ABOUT MUSIC... If I see you doing a Production like G&D I would really respect you for your music.. But for making a stupid commment lik you did here i cant respect you... but i dont hate you either :P JUST LOVE THE MUSIC MAN... You dont like it? Dont listen to it.. Sad thing is after you people talk shit you still go and listen to EVERY SINGLE G&D Production... I LOVE G&D and I KNOW HOW TALLENTED THESE GUYS ARE... And I DONT CARE WHO THEY REMIX... DOESNT MATTER AT ALL..

AS I SAY " LOVE LIFE, LIVE MUSIC "

attention defict is only dresden and sum other i guy i 4get his name

Posted by Sid on Nov-04-2003 17:02:

I think your making a big statement by calling what most people consider the best producers of 2003 sellouts. However I do agree that they are remixing what most people consider "pop" tracks. With that in mind, those same productions are of extremely high quality and deserve all the recognition they are getting by all the top dj's.

Posted by djdl on Nov-04-2003 17:02:

i just have one thing to say about G&D, and maybe u never realized this.

with the exception of a couple of their earlier productions, none of their songs sound the same, unlike many many producers out there. that is one of the huge reasons i love G&D and respect them. when u listen to a G&D track for the first time, u dont know what kind of sound u are going to hear. its all different.

Look at me, I'm cool, I only listen to "underground" stuff.

Mainstream or not, these tunes fucking own.

i cannot believe there is YET another thread about this...ffs.

those songs listed ALL rock, and how does a REMIX make a song commercial? who the fuck cares if it is britney spears or jewel? if they are turning that cheesy pop sound into wonderful trance melodies, then why does it matter? does that mean that you hate ANY song remixed? omigod, above and beyond just remixed as the rush comes again, IT MUST BE COMMERCIAL NOW!!!

give me a break. second of all, what the hell are you gonna prove by continuing to campaign against g&d/"mainstream" music? do you honestly think gabriel and dresden are gonna think to themselves, "wow, a lot of ta's are right. we suck"? NO!! how bout they dont care what the hell they remix or what the hell a few elitist snobs think. thats why they are the awesome producers they are today- they arent afraid to sample different types of music.

i think they are hands down the greatest producers ever. they create dark, sexy tracks, yet also danceable anthems like pavement cracks and this new britney one.

as for every song and every dj "becoming commercial", prove it. go out on the street and ask 10 people what the fork trance is, who tiesto is, and what the difference between epic and progressive trance is, and then see how damn commercial it is.

get over yourselves. you have made your point.

Posted by tranceaholic on Nov-04-2003 18:58:

i think..gabriel and dresden are the bomb..you only mentioned the tracks that arent emotional that they remixed..but how bout the remix of hello and pavement cracks?? cant get anyemotional then that specially hello..the cool thing about them is u never know who they will remix next and what elemts will they add or change..u gotta love em man..they r still top notch...wait for more surprises from them.

Can't agree with you man while I don't like the Britney remix you left out Anadin Beautiful things and Motorcycle (2 of the best tracks of 2003 no contest)out of the fairly new tracks

dave_gahan-i need you(gabriel and dresden remix)and lili_haydn-anything(gabriel and dresden remix) are good tracks and kristine w-save my_soul(gabriel_and_dresden) is v good with a real funky beat, and set to form the basis of the next motorcycle track

but their best remix to date for me is Way out West Mindcircus pure brillance

If anyone has seen them live you will know that they are innovative and evolving all the time and can rock the club

They prob did the britney remix for the money and so what if they did as long as they continue to produce classic tracks such as Motorcycle as the rush comes and beautiful things.

We are lucky to have two such talented and innovative producers creating tracks for us to enjoy, but I don't think they are on a downward spiral but they might need to aviod saturating the market.

Cheers

Why is it whenver any of you get pissed off at an artist you have to do it in a million threads all over the forum. There already one thread going that youre aware of, so why not use that?

gabriel and dresden are so overrated...the only work i have from them is the mindcircus remix...everything else is mediocre and completely overrated although i do give them credit for having their own unique sound...but bleh

absolutely right -- they're allowed to throw a bone to a pop artist every now and then and not every remix is going to be a mindcircus (or a beautiful things, for that matter), but as long they maintain their consistency and avoid overexposure they're aces with me.
