-- they didn't let me donate blood
they didn't let me donate blood
A friend's mother is getting operated next friday and he asked me to donate blood for her (we have the same kind).
I went there, answered their questionaire, and it was going all ok. Then, while I was lying on the chair to start the thing... the nurse asked me if i've ever had intravenous drugs (already asked on the previous questionaire), which I haven't... then she asked if I had smoke pot... which I have, and she said I could donate only if that happened at least 2 years ago
The red cross site says you can donate if you smoke weed, unless you're high at that time, but I thought it was due to nicotine/tar as you must not smoke cigarretes before donating and pot is high on those... and supossedly you shouldn't smoke cigs till 6 hours later after... which wouldn't have happened it the allowed me to donate
Now my friend's mother needs another donor... this sux.
Go back and lie
Yeah, I know what you mean. I was going to donate blood once, but it didn't happen. They started asking questions, and I told them to stay the hell out of my personal business.

there's a blood bank that gives you 50euros for 400ml of your blood here in Lithuania. but the rules are strict: 1.NO piercings, NO tattoos a year before you're donating (this one, you can lie, if the piercing/tattoo not on your face
it's a stupid rule) 2.no drugs, no alcohol - a day before [never do they ask about cigarettes]
however, they do not ask you about it, they take a sample and see 4 themselves if you're not lying.
Xtc stays in blood for about a month (but actually to "see" it, one should examine patients hair, not blood, it's a lot easier that way)
pot stays in the blood max 2 weeks [as i work in the genetic cell engineering labs, i used my position and examined my blood 10 days after doping, i'm not a blood specialist, but it seemed normal to me and my colegue]
hmm, i've smoked on sunday...
but they didn't even ask WHEN. they just said "was it at least 2 years ago?" ... "no" ... "beat it"
Just the idea of my blood floating into some plastic bag...
*faints*

From what I've heard blood is always in constant demand...I'm surprised they would turn you down for smoking weed in the past 2 years. THC only stays in your blood for a couple months at most anyway.
I've donated blood several times and they've never asked me about weed. Plus, it's not like the reciepient would get high from your blood anyway. I thought that in most cases, they seperate your blood into its components and use them seperately for different things. After you donate though, it's nice to have a joint since you get all lightheaded and woozy
Good excuse for failing a drug test...um, I had a blood transfusion and I think the guy's blood they used was a pothead.

i'm gonna remember that one
i tried to donate a couple of times but the nurses told me the same thing both times, my weight is insufficent!
one said that i needed to 'pack on a few pounds' and come back....oh well, i tried anyway
i'm a little greedy, i think i'll keep my blood, thank you very much.
I donated blood and they never asked anything about weed. Intravenous drugs, piercings and tattoos yes, but that makes sense. They could be done with a contaminated needle and you might not know for more than a year.
That's really stupid. Wish they paid for blood here, I'd be donating every month!

man, I'm getting mad as time passes by...
all the friggin places i've asked, checked, or whatever says it's ok!!!
I should've lied... grrr, f***ing nurse
thatss retarded
i tried to give blood with a hangover once and they kept asking me if i felt okay and then finally i told them i had a bit of a headache from drinking the night before and they told me to leave
no wonder they are so in need
i feel really guilty about never giving blood, but yet, i have no choice... i don't weigh enough, and i don't think i've ever gone a year without getting a piercing or tattoo worked on since i was, well, underage
