Question about Darren TAte
Does anyone else beside me think his music has gone to shit? I liked orion - rush, dream of me, eternity and see me here, but all his new just just fuckin sucks. does anyone else think that too?
dont come flaming in here either just because you like him.
i agree partly, i also think his recent productions are not the quality we have seen from him before. See me there was absolutly awesome! But his latest, are fine, nothing more...
I disagree
Apart from the jurgen stuff, i only like wilderness (Instrumental mix) out of all of his jurgen project
But his stuff wit jono grant is great, I sitll think he is very strong!
about all i've heard of his is Darren Tate & Mike Koglin-waiting, Jurgen Vries - The Theme, and DT8 - Destination, and i love those songs.
i actually liked those collaborations he did with mike koglin and jono grant, but his solo stuff, like dt8 - destination or darren tate - prayer for a god and jurgen vries stuff, i thought all those were horrible. and orion elevation wasnt good either. i liked his style back in like 2000 or whenver he came out with new world ep =)

What about:
Darren Tate vs Jono Grant - Nocturnal Creatures
Darren Tate vs Blue Amazon - No Other Love
Both quality tunes. "Prayer For A God" wasn't very impressive though.

I'm a fan of Nocturnal Creatures. I haven't listened to a lot of his music, but the demo vinyls I hear sound like his recent works are well produced uplifting tracks, but they lack that something extra that pushes a great uplifting tune over the edge.
Not really, it's like how Dirt Devils is the cheese alias of Above and Beyond, Jurgen Vries is the same for Darren Tate...
Go hear Orion - Elevation, then you'll realise he hasn't changed at all.
True all of his recent works are shit, except for those two Graceland EPs. Those are awesome.
His work HAS gone to shit, downhill at least for me...
Orion - See Me Here is one of the best trance tracks I've ever heard, the original and beachcomber dub. Orion - Eternity was off the hook... and so were his excellent remixes of...
Ayumi Hamasaki - Audience (Darren Tate Instrumental Mix)
Work in Progress - Won't Let you Down (Darren Tate Remix)
But lately, I really have not been digging Destination, Prayer for a God, Nocturnal Creatures, etc etc. They don't have the freshness and originality his older productions had.
It's all personal opinion. And it's not like he has a ton of solo work to critique. Destination is fucking huge! One of my all-time favorite uplifters. Everything he has done with Jono Grant is amazing, too.
Like I said, all personal opinion but I think Wilderness is the only tune he's had a hand in that I don't like.
I liked Citizen Cained - The Journey
the rest is all cookie cutter done to death bullshit
I thought nocturnal creatures was awersome myself, one of the songs of the year. In fact, I think that his latest stuff has definatly been up to his earliar high standards...

If you don't like his stuff fine, doesn't mean he's shit, just means that you don't like him. |
He's one of the most versatile producers out there. In the last three years he's had over 10 top 40 hits in the UK. His records have sold over 10 million around the world, and is behind two of the UKs biggest dance projects to date - Angelic and Jurgen Vries.
The fact that some people like him for some stuff and other people for others says it all, the guys adapts himself to different areas. You tend to forget he was also behind the stunning chill-out remix of Orion Eternity, or progressive house projects like The Morne. He's classically trained and has written for film and and for symphonic orchestras, which I'm sure the many people out there slagging him off right now can all say they've done.
Of course if you're going to slag him off for tracks likes or Nocturnal Creatures, or Let The Light Shine In, or Destination (one of the highest bid tracks of last year), or Orion, or etc... then fine, and yes you're entitled to your opinion, only IMO IT'S WAY OFF, esp. for a trance website.

| Originally posted by Icesotope Nicely said m8. Angelic And Jurgen Vries are both my fravorite projects from Darren Tate. For a Vocalholic like me, I adapt this singles to my fingertips in just a few streams. Vocalist like Roxanne Wilde, Lisa Scott Lee, Charlotte Church and Amanda O' Riordan have really beautiful voice. Not only that, the lyrics are really very meaningful. If not for darren tate, there won't be such kick-ass vocal tunes. As for other projects like Citizen Caned and Orion and the recent collaboration with Jono, I'll still prefer DT8, Angelic and Jurgen Vries. I said it once, i'll said it again. Those who don't like Darren Tate or part of him, please try to keep your insults to your own. Its not that we could do as professional as him |
I'm just tired of people bashing those few producers who spend their lives writing music for others peoples pleasure and not for the allure of big financial gain. Would we be any better off if we got DT8, Armin, PVD etc. just to write manufactured crap for the likes of Atomic Kitten or Lasgo?

I think Darren Tate is one from the best producers ever, and his music is getting more uplifting, and better...
