hey what is a good software vcd player?

i'm trying to watch vcd's on my comp and i'm trying to switch between the two languages offered. But i can't do it with the new windows media player. the old one you could choose which audio channel you wanted to use, but the new one i can't seem to do it.

it's a chinese vcd so there are two languages cantonese and mandarin. I already tried to use the volume adjust and switch the balance from left to right but that just has mad distortion to the sound and does not fix it.

please help.
