Cool USB MIDI Interfaces.....

Your suggestions please, I'm buying hardware soon, with the intention of getting more in the fullness of time, possibly 3-4 pieces of kit eventually, only 1 for now tho, so i need a midi interface to support it...

my budget is up to 100, if there is something just over that is much better, of course i'll definately consider it, i've been recommended this one and it looks sound to me...

if anybody who uses hardware to produce properly your input would be gratefully appreciated

I would edge away from the Midisport series in general. Many, many bugs. I know people that have had them for years and still their computers boot up without noticing it's connected (sporadically). I would recommend Steinberg's Midex 3 or perhaps the MOTU midi interfaces. The MOTUs are the best. Go for the Midex.

Well, I've had one for some two years or so, and I've never had any problems with it at all under Win2k or WinXP. I can't comment on 98SE though because I've never tried the 4x4 on that.

For me this is a solid, reliable, workhorse of an interface.

Depends also what sequencer you use.. Steinberg and emagic have their own patchbays that are very easy to use in their sequencers. I use logic + amt8 so they work very well together

Yes, absolutely, there are some who have no probs whatsoever with them, but go to harmony central's reviews and read the reviews of the roughly 70 percent of people who do have problems with them. If you do get it, make sure to get the driver update. I'm really just trying to help.
