After Ferry

Let me be the first to post to say that I had a blast at the Ferry Corsten/DJ Rap show. Not a bad performance (from either I must say) and all around a good time. Sorry I missed all you fellow TA's. I gotta Ferry's autograph. And I met a nice young woman from Lincoln Park. So on that note, I'm going to bed. Hope you all had a good as time as me.

Posted by sti3 on Nov-08-2003 10:46:

You bastard! I wanted to be the first. What a fun show, eh?

Tracks I recognized:

Boss@Nova - Stone Cold
Ferry Corsten - Sublime
Ferry Corsten - Indigo
Ferry Corsten - Punk
Ferry Corsten - Rock Your Body Rock
Ferry Corsten - Right Of Way
LNG - Inter City
Darude - Music (some mix) (thanks to Tom)
Eskimos & Egypt - The Horn Track (Luke Slater Remix)
Some INCREDIBLE M.I.K.E. track, very dark and very synthey, impeccable.

That's all I can think of. Good set though, no techno or prog!

Oh yeah! This tune has really grown on me. Holding On TO Nothing would be good without the vox.

hehe... rubin!

ok so tranceaddicts - i met sam, nick, lena (is she on TA?).. who was wearing the yellow visor? i didn't catch your name... and of course rubin and seneca!

last night was a blast! ferry played an awesome set ('cept for the skipping when the floor shook, that sucks!) and i had a great time meeting people and dancing. hearing Holding On To Nothing was my favorite... i love that song.

the only shitty thing about last night was the drive back to milwaukee... ugh, i was so tired and its such a boring drive. but i made it back okay and now im just looking forward to PVD next week!

oh and btw sam thank you for the drinks!

I was very surprised to here him play his remix of addagio for strings for his encore, but it was absolutly unbelievable. I haven't heard that live for atleast 3 years.

What did everyone think of DJ Rap? I was somewhat pleasantly surprised. She played a pretty good mix of breaks and techno. Adam Freeland's mix of Nirvana was pretty awesome live, and I hadn't heard Timo's remix of Doom's Night in a long time. Overall, she wasn't too bad.

I wasn't ready to kill myself, but I didn't exactly enjoy it either. I guess I just don't feel breaks, though I do like Dooms Night, and didn't mind the couple Moguai tracks she played (even though she played crap versions of them)

Posted by uicsux on Nov-08-2003 22:53:

Smiling Frog

haha woot that last song is identified =p. fun time over all ehh lucid that would be me in the yellow visor.
i was hoping he would play corderoy - sweetest dream remix. ah well

Posted by Black Irish on Nov-08-2003 23:22:

last minute found out i was gunna so, so went into the night with good expectations.

Sanchez and Smurilio are nice guys, but i just dont dig their tracks.

Dj Rap, the epitomy of passe...
She played two "plump dj's" tracks back to back. bleh!
She mixed almost NO tracks and layed the breakdowns and floats over each other... bleh!
The only real highpoint was she escaped the night w/o trainwrecking as horribly as she did @ Vision a few monthes back.

as for Ferry,
i thought the set was good. Not great, he didnt drop anything really mind blowing, two or three tracks were pretty sick. Mixing was solid, little more energy than last time he was in town.

I will say this
i've seen:
dj dan, bad boy bill, time maas, richie hawtin, tiesto, and dieselboy all play the H.o.b.
and NONE of them had the floor jumping THAT much. Enough to make a STACK of cinder blocks shake enough to make aneedle skip.

Props to Ferry on working the crowd.
Its one thing when people sing along a song with a DJ, its another thing when people sing a song along with the DJ... and the song DOSENT have words. Very Cool. Heh, i knew it was inevitable that he was gunna drop "punk", despite it beeing played out i still cut a rug to it...

Speaking of which, upstairs wasnt open which kinda sucked. Crowd was the usual h.o.b. crowd of... interesting people. Not all together THAT crowded, but good turn out.

Somehow everybody and their mother who is on a pill manages to congriate to the area that my friends and i are dancing..

The playstation 2 visuals got old quick, but seeing the spliced up "punk" video was kinda cool.

Other than that, i had a great time.
I doubt anybody knows what i look like, i was wearing a blue shirt and black emo-rim glasses.

I was the one who kept getting his ear drum drowned out by the BIG black guy with the fukin' whistle.

how everybody had a good night too..

Posted by rock_roll18 on Nov-08-2003 23:36:

heh that black guy was pissing the hell out of me too
pfft

Posted by sti3 on Nov-08-2003 23:43:

How dare he have a good time!

Come on guys, there was tons of room. I was dancing right next to him for some of the time and it didn't bother me a bit. The drunk spikyhaired guy trying to ballroom dance with every female that walked up was more annoying.

Gotta love Spundae. They say it's gonna be $22.50 and $25 at the door, and of course they add an extra 3 for good measure without telling anyone! It never fails; gotta love 'em!

When Tiesto was @ HOB his decks skipped 3 or 4 times from the floor shaking.

My photos are up now. See here: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=140400

I was up in the booth shooting Ferry and the crowd started jumping again and Ferry starts trying to hold the deck steady as literally everything on the table started bouncing. It can feel pretty bouncy out on the floor, but nothing like it was up on the stage... There's a reason they use stacks of cinder blocks for the booth...

I had me a good time, I did.

And Pat -- that whistle guy is at Vision all the time on Saturdays. It's annoying, yes. But at least it is only the one guy. Both times I've been to Love Parade, I swear every last frellin' douchebag over there has a whistle and is blowing it as hard as they can. They get into whistle blowing matches/wars with each other, too. And they don't even whistle along with the beat or anything -- just totally random based mainly on how long it takes them to inhale as much air as they can to subsequently blow as hard as they can on their whistle...

Posted by arecebo on Nov-09-2003 21:09:

CAW?

CAW, you must have been the guy with the big camera and big rave cargos walking around shooting all night, right? Wish I had known you were a TA or I'da said whats up. I was wearing a michigan hat..

Posted by ninja_k on Nov-09-2003 22:07:

mmm...
overall a pretty good set/night. I think I enjoyed him better when he was at Vision the last time... tough call.
BUT ...
Egyptian Empire - The Horn Track (Luke Slater's Khufu remix) is now on my a-list... loved that track... thanks for the heads up on the name sti3. Good to meet all the new folks / see the CTAEW's out again

until next weekend... PVD /Hybrid back to back.... dear god ... and to throw nick warren/chris leibing @ Transit in there on thursday? What an evil week....

lol, well when i convince missy to pay for us to gogot loveparade w/ you, we can see it first hand.

Im sure he is a cool guy, he is just bigger than me, so i can't do shit about it.

Posted by dj2kTA on Nov-10-2003 03:56:

An awesome night it was!! I saw almost every TA that I knew within like 5 minutes of walking in. It was an good start to the evening. Great turnout it was. Sucks you missed out Bobby and Chris.

Right of way is a fvckin tune! Punk sounded so much better than at Vision. He did the same thing at Vision where he turned the sound off and people were chanting da da da daa...It was much sweeter this time though. I'm pissed that I missed that new MIKE track though. Megaprops to Aaron for calling that one out. Was in the bathroom and talking to binary eclipse and other DTA? about what tracks he needed to play when it was mostly on. They said Punk and Rock your Body rock, and sure enough as soon as I walked onto the dancefloor I heard Punk chiming in, looked behind me, and saw those two running onto the dancefloor. It was a moment.

Good times overall.

We managed to get those signed flyers for Ferry's mixed live cd that the moonshine guy was handing out. Very cool.
