State of Matter - Sapphire (Original Mix)

http://www.musicv2.com/artist/stateofmatter/

This song's not as epic as my usual stuff but its got a lot of drive to it. Influences from Helstrip, Ronski Speed, as well as my own unique sound and structure.

Lemme know what you think, this song will be going out on some promo cd's (to labels and dj's)with Starlight Requiem and a completely remastered Azure symphony.

Need all the feedback I can get, really wanna push this one towards a release.

It's very simple to download if you have a clue . Then again, i'm hardly going to post it here due to the fact that it will harm his chances of getting signed if a 192 is floating around really early. PM me if you're desperate

Posted by JohnOC on Nov-11-2003 11:03:

i know u can stream the mp3 and press save as in media player
i am behind firewalls and stuff so it will not allow streaming

I won't elaborate, suffice to say that is not the method i use.

As for the track, I don't know what to say, nothing wrong here heh. lovley deep synths as usual, the saw pads and leads go together perfectly. Nice minimal percs; good mastering. Get yourself signed already

Posted by State of Matter on Nov-11-2003 11:21:

Hmm, I need to find a way to access the hub or something. I don't want to make the mp3's available to just listeners but it would be fine to make it available for the producers and djs here. I'll try and figure it out John, if not I can always just send the files to you or if anyone has private webhosting that they could offer.

Arctic: Thanks for the comments Always appreciate your support.

Ouch. Any more comments?

Even if you hate it, lemme know.

Arrow

nice song, the melody sounds very pro, simple, yet not boring. It has a warm feeling, kinda like blood as a machetti pierces muscle tissue.

haha, yea, that isnt the best space to be streaming from, you should stream from a .m3u file so people cannot dl it

my connection is sucking ass right now so it was skipping every 2 seconds, but I'll give it a try again a little later. With my very preliminary listen it sounded as though the bass could use a little beefing up up though.

Posted by sot on Nov-13-2003 01:49:

wow really nice tune. love the strings, pads and main lead. would love a full rip of this for my dj sets and mixes. hit me up on pm

Still easy to get around . On a side note, i've been playing this a lot recently, and i'm even more impressed that usual . Any label intrest yet?

Posted by Cloudburst on Nov-13-2003 16:54:

I just LOVE those synths melodies and pads!!

But, there's some other thins that makes that it doesn't reach quite to the top imo!

Perc and bass.

- Perc doesn't have any spark in them, they just go on and on... I'm VERY picky with percussion! For me to give this song a top grade, I would like to have complete new perc.

- Bass, sounds cheap and thin. Doesn't like it at all. Imo it needs a "fuller" sound, like in the AvB remix of ATRC (example).

But the melodies/synths are Great!

As always, my personal opinion...

very cool track, love the melody, synths.

Pretty awesome, would love a mp3 version of this for my playlist :P

very good track! an overall nice feeling in the song
like the way that it's built, very pro. but if i was you, i'd
try to get Starlight Requiem released rather than this one.
awesome work

Thanks for all the comments everybody, appreciate the praise and the criticism. A lot of comments about the bass, I had a heavier bassline in there but it was slowing down the flow of the track. I wanted the melody to just glide and float, and with the already heavily compressed kick it was just too much, so the bassline is there more for the sound than the feeling.

Im pushing for this and starlight requiem to be on the same vinyl, dunno how big of a chance I have of that happening, but Im going to try. Should be sending out promos Saturday.

Posted by JohnOC on Nov-14-2003 09:46:

this track is awesome, the melody and pads are excellent

i prefer it to requim, i think the melody in requim is too loud and raw, over powers the kick and bass

this structure is just right, i really like it and will be playing it in my guest mix this saturday

10/10
i wanna hear more!!
p-s, state, can u get Azure symphony to that space?

Posted by Sean Walsh on Nov-14-2003 17:26:

BTW, for future reference, it's spelled "machete" =P

Posted by extalin on Nov-14-2003 18:28:

heh i am downloading as we speak i won't share them though, don't worry. i'll leave a comment after i've done some listening.

Posted by State of Matter on Nov-14-2003 19:09:

Thanks for all of the comments everybody.

John: Nice, is it a streamed show that I could listen in to or is it at a club?

And yeah, Requiem has some harshness that I'm trying to work out of it, its very very hard to master these humongous saw pads. Thats kind of why I chose to work with softer sawpads in the background for Sapphire.

cant wait to hear your updated version of 'Azure Symphony', thats my favourite tune, out of the ones on the site.

Tweak it and release it, its an EPIC!

I will definitely push for the release of Azure Symphony once it is reworked.

Posted by DRM on Nov-17-2003 22:08:

Been listening to ur stuff a lot mate and really like it all. This one is by far the best out of the lot. I think your productions suit the more laid back sounds of Azure and Sapphire than the more energetic Starlight Requiem, tho they all sound equally well produced. Keep it up mate, you will go far.

Posted by conk on Nov-19-2003 03:54:

That's one crazy title dude...

Posted by State of Matter on Nov-19-2003 04:22:

Haha yeah it was only supposed to be a joke only for one day to get some attention, but apparently i cant change it back to the normal title. You can see where I tried to change it back at the top of the first page. Oh well
