its all OK if the drugs legal

so i'm currently studying for my test in my drugs class and my mind started wandering...
drug companies keep working on ways to find the best "anti depressent drug" with no side effects
i find that alchol, cocaine, morphine/heroin/opiate painkillers, MDMA do a damn good job. in essence you are taking these drugs to "make one's self happy"
whats the difference between say taking xoloft so you can feel confident to go socialize than say snorting a line or two of coke?
sure coke is not good for your nose, but say a form in which you could take oraly was developoed.
is having your mind altered by coke everday just as bad for you as having your mind altered by xoloft?


anyway incomplete thoughts i gotta go back to studying.

I would guess something along these effects.

(EDIT) SOME People quickly become chemically dependant on some of the amphetamine and opiate-based substances they take to make themselves feel better. They will then spend all their money on them. They will then start stealing and pulling violent acts to get what they need. They will lose their job and alienate their families, and their lives will be a disaster.


That won't happen with alot of the synthetics like Xoloft, etc.

That's just a worse case scenario. And like I should be the one to talk down on people who do drugs - I just keep my usage in control

plus you get physically dependant on them after time. Although that might only be when taking in large quantities, but I think it still happens.

I would think that they rule out those drugs because they know of the certain effects it has on the brain, and those effects are not congruent with the ehh...ehhh...damn a brain fart.

ecstasy was legal in the united states up until 1985 (or '87 cant remember off hand) and i think its a hell of a drug. its by far my personal favorite, although i havent done it in quite a while.
i dont think its any worse than some of the other drugs out there that are legal. i had a friend of mine end up in rehab because he was chowing tons of percaset (spelling), and i've seen people get hooked on vicoden and tylenol pm for that matter. alcohol fucks up alot of peoples lives, as well as nicotine. my mother died of cancer from smoking cigarettes and those are 100% legal. not cool. i've seen people at clubs get royally fucked up on K and that is an FDA approved drug. i dont know where i am going with this either but
if they could make ecstasy not make people look totally bugged out, there would be alot less violence in this world imho

the difference stems from the belief that should you be considered 'normal' and consume drugs (to take you beyond the 'normal' state of mind/body) then that is deemed wrong.

were you to be suffering an alement or something similar and be considered 'not normal', 'abnormal' then consumption of drugs is ok, so long as it brings you back to a 'normal' state.

just the very basic view of illegal vs legal drugs. alcohol and cigarettes are exceptions, they can be taxed and are too far entrenched in our culture.

ecstacy should be legal. less ppl die from it than from legal shit like alcohol or cigs and there is a large large group of users worldwide. i think statistically it is in fact safer than all the other crap...methinks so anyway. and weed too.

ecstacy should not be legal.

I'm awfully fond of it myself, and i would prefer not to have ever touched the substance.

I know some people can go out and take things in modration, but if it's in unlimited supply, people will go mad on it.

I know guys who've taken 14 pills in one night.

be great and handy if it was legal, but like, there are the very seldom death related to ecstacy, but if it were legal and in unlimited supply, i'd say there'd be much more.

Would be better if E was legal- then it would be regulated and wouldnt be cut with CRAP.

I dont know if I would say E would be a good anti depressant. E doesnt MAKE you happy- It only amplifies how you currently feel.
So if you're depressed about something- it would probably make it worse.
Big misconception about E I guess is that it just makes you happy.
I took it one night and was sorta down about some random bitch and next thing i know I was REALLY down.

HAHA...I was thinking the same thing, is it a chemical dependency class actually?

Also if for example coke was a prescription drug the recommended dosage I bet wouldn't do a whole lot for you...usually when people abuse drugs they do amounts that harm them, prescription drugs taken in recommended dosages hardly harm you. Plus then you would have even more people trying to obtain prescription drugs that they don't really need.

I was on Zoloft for two years because they diagnosed me with clinical depression. Now two years after I have stopped taking the drug (my decision) I think it was more of awareness with becoming an adult. Remember that not every problem needs a pill to be solved.

Yea- A lot of the time- people are just depressed and think it's not normal. People get depressed- it happens. It's just the way you deal with it. NORMALLY you cant just take a pill and it will go away.
