Slinky in Australia

i was chatting to some of the slinky admin guys and they reckon slinky is the biggest clubbing brand in Oz.

I know they do quite alot of tours but is Slinky that big down under?

Im just intrigued that's all

Whats a Slinky???

It come here once a year, its kinda big but nothing huge.

Nothing like Gods Kitchen, that would be the biggest global brand here. Used to be Gatecrasher but that seems to have gone

well a slinky is one of those spring like things which was a toy in 80s could move down stairs and stuff

im talking about the club nite slinky based in Bournemouth, UK a weekly trance and hard house night which has had in the last year:

Tiesto, AvB, PvD, J00f, Ferry Corsten, NuNRG, Lisa Lashes, Mauro Picotto, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, X-press2, Dave CLarke, Billy Nasty to name a few play there

they did a tour of Oz a couple of months ago, Lisa Lashes and Signum played at the Rod Laver arena in Melbourne and a slinky night in Melbourne in the new year is gonna include Above and Beyond and Lange (tbc)

Slinky are out here once or twice a year, same with most of the other european superclubs...

Godskitchen is prolly the biggest of those though... like already said gatecrasher used to win hands down but they seem to have abandoned oz for some reason so meh.....

Rennaisance are up their in popularity at the moment cause they bring out really good peeps, James Zabiela a couple of months ago, and sander in a couple of weeks...

But in all honesty none of the superclubs are overly massive down here, hard to remain excited by something that only comes round once or twice a year... but thats just my opinion...

i would also say godskitchen.

it seems the big names are going more and more to oz especially as its a reputation for having a fresh feel with dance music something most of Europe has lost.

i can imagine how its hard to attach yourself and get excited when club tours are rare but i know there r plans for more regular slinky nites maybe fortnightly alternating between sydney and melbourne. Nothing set in stone but i know that slinky want to expand there international profile although im slightly concerned by manglers response of what's a slinky. Doesnt say much that a TA hasnt heard of them/it/whateva you call a club nite.

don't mind him, he only operates and puts together melbourne's leading trance nite. nothing to worry about (i think).

Slinky is piss weak here..

Ministry of sound has a big name here, mainly casue it has an oz section/office then id say godskitchen.

Oh no...Mangler's been munching them silly pills again.

Basically you'll find that aussies love any superclub that brings out the big names to oz.... However we dont follow one brand exclusively - its whoever brings out the big name at the time that we follow!

As Wax said MOS is quite big here because it has its own oz division which pumps out really good cds from aus's top djs! I have to say in my (slightly biased) opinion that the oz MOS cds are better then the international ones but then again i am more then a lil biased (Go Mark, go! )....

It would be really cool if slinky started doing more out here but then again any brand that brought out great nights here in oz is gonna please us fans! So bring it on i say!!

Oh and i wouldnt worry about Mangler i think you can safely assume he was joking...

No one is out here enough for us to be loyal. All TA's will know of Cream/Space/Slinky/GK/Crasher etc...We're not silly

I'm intrested in hearing more about Slinky's plans[IE intl's every fortnight, or develop local dj's as super club dj's. And venue, Sydney doesn't really have 1 they could use ATM]. I doubt I can help, but if there's anything someone in sydney can to to help in anyway I can, let me know

The first time I ever heard of SLinky was at a two tribes a while back.
Too much cheesy hard house. I may be wrong..but I have the feeling that Godskitchen has a much better rap with trance affeciandos.
