Hey

Im using Fruity 3.56 @ the moment but im having some trouble with the fruity free filter. Its mainly at the lower frequcney's, but when i do a build up for the lead, I get this horrible buzzing kinda sound, is there any way i can stop this?

you have to be careful how high you set the Q value on the Free filter... It acts like a band pass (boosts a small band of the frequency that you are on) and for leads which usually have a strong mid presence, it can make the sound bad...

My suggestion is you automate the Q settings as well as the Frequency... I can't tell you how to automate it b/c each lead is different... but generally, if your lead has a lot of presence in a frequency range, and your fruity free filter frequency is in that range, you want to lower the Q and same but opposite thing for when your lead doesn't have a lot of presence in the frequency range...

Basically, think of the Q (Quantity) value as something to compensate for lack of presence or too much presence in a frequency range...

Its a preset i made in V-Station. 3 saw sound, one at a lwoer octave than the others, the sound i used in "Channel Turbulance", just tweaked to make it a bit stronge.

I saw you finished your mix of silvertide, me 2 Not a chance mines gonna be better than yours id guess but i might aswell still send it in.

a better way to control the v-station filter would be with a midi out.

set the port on v-station to say 15 for example

create a midi out channel, then go into presets and select the VAZ preset as the controls on it are compatiable and i can't be arsed 2 write how 2 create a special v-station one

anyways after you have selected the vaz preset, change the midi out port to 15 too.

go in the filters tab, right click on cutoff, edit events

also, if you have a bottom end noise it may not be the filter, but set the attack on the synth slightly up so it is not 0, but maybe 4 or 5, because raw or detuned sawtooth waveforms may make a clicking noise because that will be the only audiable part of the waveform.

i had the same problem back with my p133 lol check the sample rate check its at 44100 because if the frequencies are too high for it you get the annoying buzzing sound
