XP Help needed - emergency!
ok i just upgraded to xp so i can sort my network out properly but there is a slight problem, no programs or control panel options will load at all except IE and image viewer.
does anyone know what the fuck is wrong, i cant even load the prog's on the cd to change the installation :S
HEEEEEEEEEEELP!
Try safe mode boot up m8 .. hold down some key on bootup .. forget which .. shift ctrl f3 or something .. can hold a few down i guess .. try from there ..
Ctrl-alt-del .. see whats going on in there also ..
no help at all, i have a feeling it tried to copy some settings of my old windows and fucked up. coz when you do run as it tries to protect programs from running incase of viruses but when you untick the box and click ok it does nothing and if you try it again the box is re ticked.
what i am gonna do is re unzip my windows 98, format the c drive, get my startup disk from home, copy 98 to the c drive, then run a different xp installer, the one with matching service pack.
not a pirated copy is it STe?
The safest thing to do when u upgrade ur os is to backup everything to cd or wotever, format ur hard disk, partition it and do a clean ntfs install of xp.
