Try safe mode boot up m8 .. hold down some key on bootup .. forget which .. shift ctrl f3 or something .. can hold a few down i guess .. try from there ..

Ctrl-alt-del .. see whats going on in there also ..

no help at all, i have a feeling it tried to copy some settings of my old windows and fucked up. coz when you do run as it tries to protect programs from running incase of viruses but when you untick the box and click ok it does nothing and if you try it again the box is re ticked.

what i am gonna do is re unzip my windows 98, format the c drive, get my startup disk from home, copy 98 to the c drive, then run a different xp installer, the one with matching service pack.

The safest thing to do when u upgrade ur os is to backup everything to cd or wotever, format ur hard disk, partition it and do a clean ntfs install of xp.

Yep, sounds like the instilation has screwed.

Get everything u need off the hard drive, somehow, heh and reformat it and then reinstal, xp boots from the cd, just need to change the setting in yr bios

But i see yella fella is gonna help

if you go into your bios (press del when you switch the comp on) then you can set the computer so its first boot device is CD-ROM, also set second and third boot device to none or off.

the comp will load from CD then you can format your comp and reinstall XP in an NTFS partition from all these screens on the CD.
