Cannibals Apologize for Eating a man

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...nibal_apology_5

Or if you can, view the reuters video on it with a nice punchline: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=index&cid=1055

So what do you all think? Should people not eat people?

I mean if we eat animals, what's the harm?

fijian cannibals can apologize for eating missionaries but the american government has yet to issue a formal apology for slavery--just something that crossed my mind...

cannibalism is actually one of the rare near-universal taboos that crosses virtually every ethnic and cultural boundary--hence our antipathy toward missionary burgers...

Smiley DJ chompin on others is a no-no

Well, I think you can write this one off for health reasons alone, and avoid any ethical discussions.

Remember Mad Cow disease? Don't feed cow to cow. From the HHS, "There is strong evidence and general agreement that the outbreak was amplified by feeding rendered bovine meat-and-bone meal to young calves."

And as far as the ethics are concerned, it shouldn't be surprising that conventions were borne that frowned upon such behavior. It is in no one's interest to be in that environment when there are clear and easy alternatives.

Being eaten used to be a great honour in some cultures. In some parts of PNG, for instance, up until quite recently (i.e. the past few decades) when tribal chiefs died they were immediately roasted and fed to the community, so that they may live on inside the citizens, the theory being, I guess, that if you eat someone who is great and good that that greatness and goodness is passed onto you.

Wierd, but, up until recently, not uncommon.

i don't feel the urge to apologize for something that occurred in america while my ancestors were starving in ireland. personal opinon, of course. didn't clinton offer a formal apology?

it wasn't a formal apology (i.e. one accompanied by formal legislative proceedings and maybe the erection of a museum or something) --just a lot of Clintonian lip-biting and yeoman empathy

oh, and just because my ancestors were herding goats on some greek mountainside during slavery doesn't mean that i don't continually experience the seen and unseen benefits of a racially ordered society...

Hehe, I really liked the reason why the missionary guy was put to death. He touched the tribal chief's head.

It's actually meant to taste more like pig meat (so pork or ham).

Yummy.

Just one more reason to eat man and find out!

yum yum

Yeah, I'd say we taste like pork too. From all the animals we usually eat, the most similar ones to us would be pigs, so I guess that we have similar muscle structure too. Pork is good. I wanna eat some humans now.

Well what about baby humans? Do you think they taste differentely from adult humans? Kind of like how veal tastes differentely from cow ... also why does veal look differentely from regular beef? It looks more like chicken ...

Back on topic, I wonder what the ideal human would be for consumption. Like, it would suck to eat athletes since they'd be all tough. And then all the fatasses would contain too much fat/lard ... perhaps one of us should look into this ...

... i'm getting kind of hungry...

I'd say pre-teens would be most tasty...
