Christian people do not listen to techno subgenre

Something my friend noticed. He is techno DJ playing UK Acid and Sweedish Techno and he says Christian people do not listen to techno...

And I had some friends over and they happened to be christian. He was playing techno and kept saing that that music would sound great in hell . And they kinda were looking like this .... So i guess it's kinda true, what are the thoughts on the subject.

In addition, Moby used to make hardcore techno tracks and then he became a christian pansy and started producing things for the new Britney's Pears album....

Posted by Psionic on Nov-15-2003 13:32:

Maybe the violent sound of techno is why...?

Posted by Delay Llama on Nov-15-2003 13:56:

Acid Techno is one of the most popular genres in Venezuela.
Funky Techno is one of the most popular genres in Brazil.
Hard Techno is one of the most popular genres in Spain.
Mauro Picotto is from Italy....

And these, my friend, are some of the most Catholic countries in the world. I think it's quite hard to believe that, in these places, only non-Christian peoeple listen to this kind of music.

Actually, if you look for the countries with most producers, ALL OF THEM (except for Japan), are Christian countries (so even the people who aren't religious have a Christian cultural background).

So, no, techno doesn't make baby Jesus cry

Um...Christian as in you do believe and follow the claims of Christ? Cuz THAT WAS CHRIST WHO WALKED ON WATER you fool!
Like sayin' "I believe in the easter bunny, I just don't think there's really some rabbit involved!"

In case you wonder, yes I AM a Christian...and YES there is Christian trance out there...
google... redsavior ... ultrabeat(the original ultrabeat) [www.ultrabeat.com]... etc.
It is becoming bigger all the time.
Please don't confuse making ignorant comments with telling us your opinion.

btw, i'm christian (as 99% of my country) and i do listen to techno, though i've been losing faith in religion lately

somehow you north american people seem to have weird ideas of christian people dude, we're normal people like you, not people who are obsessed with religion 24/7 and won't listen to techno cause it's 'the devil's music'

how can you be catholic if you do not believe? that doesn`t make sense

also CKY i dont believe that your theories about christians not liking techno have any factual reasons in backing it up.

Probably because he was born catholic. I know many people who are born into faiths that they don't believe.

Of course it does...just because I'm a part of a certain religion doesn't mean that I have to believe in what it represents or stands for...My parents and grandparents and their grantparents and so on and so forth are catholics, and that makes me a catholic as well, since I after all was baptised (misspelling?) in a catholic church - but as far as I'm concerned, every word that's in the bible is BS.

But let's not turn this thread into another one of those political ones...

I'm a Christian... it's a matter of testimony as to how I choose what music I listen to. I used to listen to hip-hop, but don't really any more. It's not that I made a decision to not listen to it, but more that the particular genre as a whole isn't what I want my mind focusing on.

Trance is entirely different... I love it. I've been listening to it nonstop since I discovered it roughly 3 years ago. I've gotten most of my Christian friends listening to it alot as well... whether vocal or non-vocal, I don't see a single thing wrong with it. It doesn't scar my testimony, and it's enjoyeable for everyone.

In my opinion the messages are clean, and purely entertaining. The beat is driving and emotional... I consider trance the perfect music.

i was baptised, but that doesn't make me christian.

Talking Good Point Ken200ac

quote:
we're normal people like you, not people who are obsessed with religion 24/7 and won't listen to techno cause it's 'the devil's music'
now you're saying I'm not normal??
I listen to techno and I don't think its the devil's music. Heck, Country & Western promotes bad morales and poor lifestyles just like any other media type... what are you sayin?

All I was saying was this:
If you claim to be a Christian... then talk the talk, and walk the walk...that means, btw, as CHRIST did. YES...it was Jesus who walked on the water (He even encouraged his disciple Peter to meet him on the waves).

Ken makes great points...I totally hear that and can relate with you! Great post dude!

Correct me if I'm wrong.. but he said exactly the opposite.

Posted by Streakfury on Nov-15-2003 22:24:

I dont see the correlation between religion and personal tastes in music. Thats like saying all Taliban want to hijack aeroplanes... oh, wait...

Seriously though, I dont think the two have any significance with respect to each other.

Amen to that!

Interesting theory though ... guess it's cause I am not religious anymore ... but I dont really like very hard techno and rave ... too hard for me

Posted by satelites on Nov-15-2003 23:50:

all right then, lets have a field day;

im a christian and i love techno

religion has feck all effect on this, i jus become a christian three years ago an in that time i discovered trance, both sides been gettin bigger ever since. the only kinda music youre probly not gonna see christians listenin to is the hardcore metal/rock with the satanic lyrics, apart from that, tis all crap

Posted by neoh on Nov-15-2003 23:54:

You know, all you people should know - that there is no winner in an argument about religion, so this thread will go on and on. I was raised christian, I always listened to trance. It's a universal language, and sound, and it's a religion all on its own. And as far as i'm concerned, I dont think anything so beautiful could of come from satan.
