Who went to Avalon Saturday ?
How was Warren. Last I heard missy left early because Tall Paul was just playing cd's and not mixing.
I got there with about 15 minutes left of tall paul and the little bit i saw, he was mixing.
As far as Nick Warren, he was quite good. The first hour or so, he played a lot of tracks from his latest GU, which was cool. Overall I recognized about 3/4's of his set, good stuff, but I wish he played some more tracks that I didn't know. It was great to hear some melodic progressive, it's been a while.
As far as Avalon, the place itself was pretty cool, though a little confusing (I'd never been to Limelight). The crowd as a whole were, eh, ok. But there were some individual people that were really cool, so overall it was a great night!
T.P. puts in cd, hits the loop button half way through it, takes loop off, puts in 2nd cd, beatmatches, fade in, fade out. I was completely unimpressed.
His track selection was horrible. He used his 3 turntables as a "countertop" for his cd books.
Avalon - crowd was a lot of displaced Exit heads, some misguided SFers, some "eurotrash," all were rude. Staff & security were very nice though.
I couldn't stand to wait in there for Nick Warren, the one I WANTED to see, so I left and went to Arc.
Tall Paul was all over the place but luckily I stuck around to hear Nick Warren. I loved his set, very dark. Good to ran into you djrapture
