Posted by Orbax on Nov-17-2003 21:18:

Yeah, I dont like what Christmas has become. also, Santa is an anagram for Satan. and he HAS taken away the meaning of Christmas

Posted by butterfly on Nov-17-2003 21:23:

i dont have as much of a problem with christmas lights up in october as still having them up in february. though the christmas decorations up before halloween was a bit excessive this year.

No no no.. get with the times.
It's 'Winter Holiday' - Christmas is RELIGIOUS.

*hiss* religion! *hiss*

Blame America.

idk... that whole middle part of america is still pretty into that religion thing.

I love the "winter holiday" time! Everyone is generally in a better mood. Its entertaining to watch people practically break their necks trying to make their house look the best on the block when it comes to Christmas lights! Plus, it truly is a pretty sight when walking the dog at night and seeing the fantastic arrangement of colours (in Florida, since there is no snow, we take our lights seriously )

The smells of candles are amazing (Pine tree, Apple Cider, Christmas cookies... etc etc) and the weather gets so cold!

I know full well what christmas is, thank you.
My point is, the americans were originaly trying to call it 'WINTER HOLIDAY' because of the "religious deversity" in america, instead of CHRIST-MAS, which is an actual christian holiday.

And just for a "matter of fact" - Unfortunately, Jesus' birthday was not recorded, so we cannot know the exact day of His birth. There were pagan festivals in honor of the Roman God, Saturn, during the month of December. So, December 25 became the recognized day to celebrate Christ's birth as a Christian alternative to the rituals of the day.

Well, christians stole the holiday of Christmas from the earlier pagan rituals which celbrated the end of winter and the prolonging of the day. What goes around, comes around.

Anyway, I find it fascinating how americans start celebrating christmas about 3 months before it comes. And the competition between neighbours who will have more decoration on his house is also pretty silly.

Unhappy

Christmas has become a big publicity stunt. It does not focus on giving, sharing, love and peace anymore. It now represents greed, envy, and corruption. It has become a COMMERCIAL holiday. It has become "My present is bigger than yours" or, "my store can sell more than yours can"

It's a bad thing.

The Dark Times, begin they will.

Over reacting?

I know it wasnt recorded, but the reason christmas is celebrated and has traditionally been passed down is from the birth of Jesus, whatever time it was, but the day has been 25th. It wasnt a alternative, it was a celebration of Jesus's birth..

I live in England, so i dont know what america do during xmas with the lights in competitions etc... and call is winter holiday.

didnt mean to piss u off

I love christimas coz its the only time that we as a family all have time off for 2 weeks and can actually see each other all the time without the influence of work, school etc....
