Spirit New York

SPIRIT: A NEW, MULTI-LEVEL ENTERTAINMENT VENUE
TO TRANSFORM NEW YORK NIGHTLIFE WITH ENLIGHTENED ENTERTAINMENT FOR BODY, MIND AND SOUL

New York, NY - Nightlife in New York City will be re-energized and redefined mentally, physically and spiritually, this fall with the opening of Spirit New York, a revolutionary multi-level experience. Spirit occupies a two-story, 35,000-square-foot space at 530 West 27th Street that originally housed the legendary nightclubs Sound Factory and Twilo. The impeccably designed two-floor venue is being uniquely transformed by a $5 million renovation that will feature three distinct zones: BODY, MIND and SOUL. The center of the Spirit New York experience will be BODY, a spacious 10,000-square-foot auditorium and performance space that seats 600 with standing room for 1,200 surrounded by a mezzanine level, which seats an additional 250 visitors. Equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual facilities, BODY will play host to "Rapture" the first of a series of seven shows, which will change quarterly in keeping with the equinoxes and solstices. Every show will entertain, enlighten, inspire and engage the entire audience in a celebration of Spirit.

On the second floor, MIND will be a unique setting for awakening and rejuvenating the mind, body and all the senses. For the first time, nightlife revelers can venture from the dance floor and experience skilled practitioners offering massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, tarot astrology, chakra balancing and various styles of alternative, vibrational experiences. The MIND zone will offer an extended menu of alternative treatments. Also on the second floor and over looking the dance floor will be SOUL, a 180-seat restaurant serving up a divine experience of flavorful organic, vegetarian and LIVE FOOD. Selections will be created by Master Chef Chad Sarno, the leading culinary architect of "living food" creation. A wide range of share-style selections, starters and specialty items will be available. Diners and club-goers can enjoy a private organic dining experience or get a sampling of many selections at the innovative 'Share Space' community table designed for singles or group dining. In addition, SOUL will include a spacious bar complete with a unique blend of herbal elixirs that can be mixed with non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverages.

ALREADY A SUCCESS

The original Spirit Dublin has already made a significant impact on the nightlife scene in Ireland. Opened in 2001 by entertainment entrepreneur Robert Wootton, the club has drawn rave reviews for successfully fusing the dance club setting with dynamic live shows plus a busy holistic center. Now, Spirit New York will be second of seven planned venues worldwide, which will include Cape Town, Athens, Sydney, Shanghai and Rio de Janeiro.

Wootton is very serious about providing first-rate healthy, alternative and enriching entertainment on a high-energy club level. The result of his own spiritual awakening, Wootton calls the Dublin and New York venues and the five forthcoming; "energy centers of the earth."

"Today spirituality is synonymous with action; and action is every act of your life, in harmony with Mother Nature, and most importantly the harmony within ourselves, and in relation to the way in which we live" Said Don Pascual, Wise elder of the Mam Maya.

Spirit's mission is to share the wisdom and prophecies of our ancestors to unite peoples, encourage their inner development while providing enlightening entertainment in a joyful, communal environment. By creating joy and a positive experience, Spirit hopes to take a role in encouraging people to evolve to a new plain of consciousness where we allow the light that shines in all of us to shine as bright as the stars from where we all began.

If the restuarant has good food and the cooking is good, and the clubbing area houses the likes of PvD, Armin, Tiesto, J00F - I can see myself being a regular in this place. And if the spa/massage area is good, my g/f will be a regular there.

House would make more sense for the atmosphere... THe question is... will this club attract regular people or self-important elitist wanna-be's...

Yeah, i heard about this as well. There was a rumor goin around a while ago that S&D were going to open the club. But Its most likely a rumor someone started by saying "wouldn't it be awesome if S&D opened spiritnewyork?"(because they used to play in twilo building before) kinda thing.

It'd be sweet if they did. but I highly doubt it.

sounds to me like being in new york, this might do well $$$wise, however, its probably going to be what im guessing is a very sad use of such a (now historically) significant space.

this place sounds like the place 'jillians' but with a club theme. sounds a bit wierd. what is LIVE food?

Posted by Dublin Guy on Nov-19-2003 01:36:

imo its gonna be full of dickheads with no interest in dance music in attendance each week,an insult to twilo

Posted by Mysteriousss on Nov-19-2003 13:33:

When is it actually opening? I'm curious to see what this place will be like but I'm scared to go opening night because I think it'll be more crowded than Twilo ever was........

Sounds like a bunch of tree-huggin' hippie crap.

In all seriousness, it sounds very non-traditional, and I'm not sure whether or not it'll be a decent place. Either way, I'm sure it'll draw a huge crowd -- whether it's the crackies and usual club crowd, or a bunch of elitists who think they're better than everybody else, who knows.

I'll give it a fair chance... but not more than one or two. That space just has too much history.
