Smiley DJ Offical TOTA Up & Comers : Demo Thread

Wuzup everyone

Can everyone placed there link to their demos here? There are way too many demo threads and it would be better if we keep it at one thread.

Good or Bad idea ?

Posted by Flec on Nov-18-2003 02:34:

Definitly a great idea, way to many threads for demo-support

Posted by diesel0 on Nov-18-2003 02:34:

Yeah, I started a new thread
This is my 1st recorded mix ever after i started spinning 1.5 months ago.

Nothing spectacular, but here it is anyways.

RIGHT CLICK SAVE AS

Posted by StereoPrincess on Nov-18-2003 02:38:

Yeah but where are we supposed to write reviews. There has to be individual threads too so people can get feedback for their own mix and not have to scroll though everyone elses.

Posted by diesel0 on Nov-18-2003 02:41:

PM the reviews? I dunno, you make a good point.

Posted by Skipper on Nov-18-2003 02:47:

If there were only five or so of us, then one thread would work, but not with the 15 or 20 so DJs on the board. Marg's gotta point.

We could try it and see....

Posted by Matt on Nov-18-2003 02:54:

I'm working on a demo too lol...

Just working on an intro track right now...

Posted by Flec on Nov-18-2003 02:59:

skipper the point is, this is the toronto forum and not the amatuer dj forum, we all want to hear your mixes, but right now every other thread in this forum is about a new mix by "xxx"

try posting the mix in the amatuer dj forum, then maybe posting a link to that in this thread here and if we really want to give you feedback we can do it in the other thread

Posted by E2EK1EL on Nov-18-2003 03:05:

Every thread I see is someone's demo thread ... just wanna keep thing organize that's all :P

What difference would that make? it'd still be one TOTA thread per demo.

Don't look at me, I'm only jumping on the demo-mix bandwagon here.

Forgive us for being proud to share this kind of thing with you guys; we value your opinion and that's why those threads are in the forum.

OK how about this:
something like a Master List, the most recent mix goes on top.

Each set entry includes:
- tracklist
- link to a thread in amateur DJ forum discussing the mix
- link to download the set.

Example:

DJ AAA - Live 15-12-2010
Tracklist:
1) A - A
2) B - B
..
26) Z-Z

Link to download: http://link

what (could) work would be a Toronto subforum within the TOTA forum for amatuer DJ demo threads. This would allow each demo to have its own individual thread while at the same time relegating them to their own area away from all the other discussion threads..

tho.. this would be upto higher powers to decide ..

Good Idea.

I also want to suggest to the members that post their sets, to put the times for when each track begins and ends if possible, so that people who are able to make cue sheets, can hook everyone up .

Posted by Flec on Nov-18-2003 03:42:

why make a new forum for this when there already is a amatuer dj forum?

people would get more replies on their mix in that forum then in here because there is simply more members, also more critism from ppl they dont know

I like this idea best.

This keeps the demo mixes in the amateur DJ Forum for which it was intended (higher powers don't have to make yet another sub-forum), the Toronto peeps (and worldly others) get notified, a tracklisting AND a handy download...what more could you ask for?

Sounds good to me.

probably because a lot of the DJ's here are putting greater emphasis trying to promote themselves locally. but i can see this becoming a problem too since other regional forums might start demanding the same thing and then you could end up with a lot of duplicate threads both in the regional promotion forum and the Amateur DJ forum.

no silver bullet solution!

How about making that toronto dj's forum available to canadian/torontonian members only a la "other forums we can't talk about"

yah and who's gonna go thru the manual process of creating groups lists in vBulletin, not to mention trying to determine who's a TOTA member and who isn't , etc..

we could pay some wino to do it.

I hope that you guys realize that these demos trend is going to stop real soon? Like everyone is getting out their mixes now because of Peter hooking them up and other because they are thinking they should join the other bunch. In a few days there isn't going to be another thread about it.

But I do encourange all DJs to show their stuff in the DJ Amateur column for all of TA to see. And maybe all of us should check out what other parts of the world are doing.

almost post

I think combining Ilyia's amd Emery's ideas would work best. I love hearing TOTA's demos as much as anyone, but i do agree.....scroll down the forum and look how many threads consist of demos?? Having all of these seperate posts is totally unorganized and pushes all of the other threads back.

Definetely agree with Flec on this one...you will get more good constructive feedback in the Amateur dj forum....not to say that we here can't give good constructive feedback, just there you will get a wider variety of listeners....
