Paul Oakenfold was the highest-ranking DJ in The Sunday Times latest annual poll of British salaries, earning �4.5million (US$7million) the paper revealed this week.

"This year the Los Angeles Times reported: 'Oakenfold's not the most innovative music maker in the world . . . but he is arguably is the best businessman dance music has ever seen", said the Times.

DJ magazine's analysis of the superstar jock in their own recent poll also honed in on Oakey's business acumen though appeared less than impressed with his failure to grant them an interview.

"Paul's clearly a very busy man with seemingly impenetrable levels of management around him and we are only a humble dance magazine," they complained.

"It would probably have been easier to get an interview with Tony Blair."
