djm 500/600 question

do these mixers have split cue function?

thanks in advance

since i am djing at this local bar....my first gig1!!

and i am just makign sure

600 does, 500 doesn't. you should learn to beatmatch without using the split cue. you'll be much better prepared to enter an unknown club and start spinning.

iv played with these mixers a couple of times and iv noticed that when you turn the bass down on the EQ thats also what you hear in the headphones, that sucks. how do turn that off. i dont want the EQ to effect what i hear in the headphones.

you should learn to adapt to all kinds of setups
try not to get stuck on one way to mix
because it's not certain that the setup you're used to playing with is going to be available at the venue

i've played on everything from having the decks and mixer on a wobbly card table under a bridge with no monitors to a full setup with a djm 600 and eons right beside my ears

why would you want to? this is a "feature" on some lower grade mixers (ie vestax PCV175), but really, it's a handicap.

if you can't hear the EQ changes in the cans, then how can you know how good it's going to sound before putting it out live?

you will feel and hear a big differences
but just relax
dont think way too much about it
pretend its like spinning in your bed room

*smile*
you'll be ok

i like to get hammered and stoned before i spin, it loosens me up and makes me more creative and willing to try things which in turn makes for a better set
and to be honest, i don't think i can spin sober anymore...

even while spinning at home, i'll spark up a joint or 5 while spinning

first i have to match the beats, then i have to turn the bass down, cause i usually have both treble and mids running outside with the track thats being mixed into. so when that bass is down its hard to tell if the tracks are coming apart cause the bass is so low. to me it just seems logical for the headphones not to change. and by the way i do have Vestax PCV175 (not that im diffending the mixer, i hate it) but you can switch the sound on and off. Make the EQ work in the headphones or not.

Posted by Tony Morello on Nov-20-2003 21:05:

then don't pay attention to the low end while beatmatching
the high end is cleaner, crisper and more defined than any bassline
this makes it easier to catch the beats starting to slip
i actually started turning down the bass eq on the incoming track just so i could hear the high end better

i started doing that and my beatmatching improved overnight

really? you can't on the 275, which is a better mixer. where is that switch?
