I call it grooving, but other people just say raving. Its hard to explain..Its just using your dancing skills to "defeat" your opponent...Its quite fun actually.

Well you just moved to california right? in the bay area, San Jose specifically there is tons of parties during the summer, literally every weekend, but the bigger parties draw the bigger names like Cyberfest and Metropolis are two of the biggest. There might be one for New Years.

usually held at raves and the 18+ clubs
usually a human circle is built, in the middle there will be two people trying to "PUNK" the other one with innovative dancing moves.
while the rest of the crowd cheers them on. sometimes they are alright but when someone is doing liquid and this twat starts break dancing it ruins the whole thing. happen to me when i was younger and used to that. i just walked off.
sometimes some of the people are very good dancers. this works well for the people who don't want to look crazy while dancing. just copy some of their moves.

Vivid Boy in Breakin'2 :Electric Boogaloo.

I've seen dance battles before.. @ Buzz, Nation, pretty cool stuff, but im not as L33T as they are. I can pop n lock and stuff, but not real good.

As for raving, i never really learned it..i just kind of watched peopl, taught myself and just go with the music. I cant hold on to glowsticks for the life of me lol they always fly out of my fingers and hit people hahaah!

each to their own

A mate and I had a battle in a club once, although I didn't know thats what you call it. He thought he was da man and said that he owned the club with his brother, except they were like, 15. We caned their asses!!

Yo Vivid, I use to battle with a crew in Philly, the Original Kicks, but now we are all just hangin' and dance for fun.

I love dance battles. We used to b-boy battle at clubs all the time.

As for dancing battles, it mainly depends on where you're at. In Dc at Nations, it's always a blast (except that most DC heads can't dance, sorry, it's the truth). In NYC, it's a little scary at how mad people get when you school them on the dancefloor. And in Philly, you'll get your assed handed to on the dance floor.

It's always fun. We had the best battle one night at Space in Philly, it was Liquid Pop Collective vs The Original Kicks Crew.

bboy vs liquid-pop

did you hear about the hissy fit DT threw about battles at his friday party at arc? he said he didnt want breakdancing in his club because it took up too much space and was distracting to teh other people there. (not a direct quote but it was something like that) DT annoys the piss out of with shit like that...
