What to do?

I was wondering. And i would like the opinion of someone that is around the same age group as me(15-18). I want to trow a Trance party at my house for friends and for people that just want to have fun. I live in a city where rap/hip hop is big. But people over here just like having fun. Well I was wondering how do i start? At first I was thinking of trowing one at the end of the year(not new years). But i only have a strobe light and i want some more lighting equipment. Here is my idea. Buy a smoke machine, maybe 4 more lights i already have 4 black lights and buy like 6 white bed sheets and cover them with neon paint(i did that to my walls in my room). I think I also need more tracks. Most of the stuff is have is goa/psy trance. Help please any ideas would be great.

Thank you

Hey man i know where you are coming from. Where i am from, everyone likes Hip Hop and RnB (or RnGay as i like to call it). All of my friedns are into it and none of them likes any EDM, and no way would any of them like trance.

I suggest that you play more cheesy, wellknown tunes that ppl might have heard before on the radio or MTV or something. People will like it more if they can recognise some of the songs. I don't think they would be into more darker, underground trance.

Also, i suggest you play Nalin & Kane - Beachball (G & D remix) if you have it because that is one song that i have found that EVERYONE likes.

We are close Galapidate. And thanks Vigilante I was thinking of that. One song everyone over here knows is DJsammy-heaven or Lasgo-something. Yeah i can imagine how many of you dont like those songs lol. But those are the first that came to my mind that they have heard. I have been thinking of moving on to Uk hard house/hard trance. those songs get the crowd jumping but then i think. Will they like it lol. I just DJ for the fun of it and for my friends(well want to begin with)

It's probably NOT the smartest thing to throw a party for non-trance people where you play only goa or psy. The thing is that i've noticed that people who mainly listen to that TOP40 crap and think Dj Alligator is trance, just do not understand "quality" trance. Now if you want everyone to ejoy the music even a bit, i suggest you start by playing something commecrial and then move slowly to your own style.

I've tried this and made the mistake to sart with prog and trance at. It enden with almost everyone asking for some top40 pop and other shait.

Yeah, in my town the only "techno" they have at dances and stuff are shit like DJ Sammy - Heaven and Milk Inc. crap. I actually once heard Derb - Derb and was very surprised

Ya, I'm not gonna lie to you. You're in a real tough siuation man. I come from the same siuation but most likely worse. Just yesterday me and a friend were driving back home when I threw in some chillout and trance in. And although he used to make fun of my music, yesterday he really liked it and respected it. And then we hit a deer and totaled his car.
But the way I see it for someone who's all mainstream will like mainstream tunes more than cheese dance. And people into trance of will obviosuly prefer real trance to cheesy stuff. So cheese is like the tough medium that may or may not convert people. I'd reccommend playing high energy cheesier stuff with not alot of pregression becuz people at first cant handle long progression. Stuff like the warp brothers, atb, aquagen, barthezz, dj jean........

Damn!!!!! Hope you are OK....

I suggest you alternate between trance and things you think they'd be more inclined to like. That doesn't even mean you have to play rap. You can spin a trance song, then some breaks, trance, some DnB, trance, maybe some hip-hop. Compromise. Plus, that gives you variety. And there is good hip-hop you can use. Jurassic 5, The Roots, Outkast, something like that.
