Help Needed For Piano Breakdowns
Hey,
I want to create a soft piano melody, similar to the piano sound used in the breakdown on Jakatta - American Dream.
I am very new to producing music, so I'm not sure what I have to do to create it. I'm guessing I would need a low velocity and a touch of reverb? I also need some advice on good VST or DX Piano plugins
All Help Appreciated

I wouldn't recommend the Grand for a breakdown unless the soft dynamic is used. It's expensive too. There is a prosamples cd that has the Steinway sampled. You can use this is in your host sampler and it's only around fifty bucks. Also, IK multimedia's Sampletank has a good piano sample that really sits well in the mix
A couple of free ones you could try are 4Front or mda VST pianos.
Check some reviews here:
4Front
mda
Personally, I prefer 4Front.
If you've got a bright piano sound, don't be afraid of running through a low-pass filter (or otherwise reducing the high frequencies with EQ) to soften the sound a bit.
