Longhorn

downloaded the alpha version today and installed it.

IMO it was TERRIBLE!

First is was slow as hell, took up 700-800mb of memory and a lot of cpu. :S :S :S (that has to be a bug, it can't take up that much all the time:S)

The grapichal user interface was also terrible, it was tooooo much eye candy, couldn't stand it.

To much DRM things too, you get the feeling you have no control all the time...

yes i know it's still alpha and won't be realeased until 2005-2006, but still only the user interface (which i don't think they will change very much) is reason enought to stick with win2k / Linux...

No it didn't , that is pagefile useage (on your harddrive).

You don't even have 700 megs of ram. You have 256.

dont be so quick to judge it - its just an alpha version, which comes even before the beta! im sure they have a good deal to iron out yet...give it some time before u decide

yep i know, but still, they won't change all those annoying eye candy things, they won't have less drm either, i could only imagine it becoming worse infact...

ya. it's getting more and more resource intensive. For one, i thought microsoft said that longhorn was going to me the most memory efficient operating system ever, yet it still requires quite a large minimum requirement. I love XP, i just hope they don't take another step back as in windows ME.
and Mako needs some discipline from his dad. and then a serious talk about respect with his other dad.
