Immuned to sensationnalism

While watching a police chase on TV the other day, I came to realize how much it doesnt interest me the way it used to about 5 years ago. I remember being all excited about these caught on camera things and going like Oh my god the guy crashed and it happened for real and they got it on tape and I just wanted more and more... Bloood!! But now it seems like they gave us so much of this crap I have become totally saturated, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one feeling this way.. It even got to the point where I just switch the channel and try to find something more interesting... Same goes for some over-predictable actions movies, where special effects and eye-catching stunts is a must...

Since they dont wanna get redundant, they push it to the extreme every time, trying to show us something we havent seen before. I just wonder what they're gonna do next.. like in 20 years from now... I predict the live executions or deathmatch

Well, that was my "what is this society coming to" contribution for the day

so it took you 5 yrs. before you got sick of that crap? lol...

j/k...yeah it got old pretty fast for me too...but they've gotta fill time with some news, ANY news, and when nothing truly newsworthy is happening they'll just pick anything at all...

congratulations, someday in the future picking up the remote and turning the tv on will seem to you as a very gruesome task.

the only news that's worth watching, IMHO, is the daily show on comedy central.

Catharsis theory, the more you're subjected to violence the more desensitized you become to it.

I agree,we live in a more violent society where the codes of decency have been pushed further and further..

just think almost half a century ago, it was indecent to show Elvis presley dancing his signature pelvic thrusts on TV..and now we have blood, nudity, gore, etc..

I wish I would desensitize to these farts, it smeels like hell up in here.

yeah, that was useless. but good topic, it not only effects your tv watching habits but thing in real life, ya don't bat an eye at most things that ya should.

we don't live in a more violent society. society has always been violent.
id even propose that society today is less violent than it was in the past.
we just have all these means of communication which makes it able for us to see and hear violence.
and recently, we have become alot more lax on censorship and more open in general.

he drove around in a car while police had a warrent out for his arrest. I was gonna go down to the strip or try to find him just to give him a large note calling him a pederass.

wrestling is the prime example...slowly everything is being seen as ok...so if laws and whats wrong and right keeps on being bent theres gonna be a point in time where everything is allowed

I was watching a Cops episode the other day and they were chasing some teenager who stole a little gas power scooter. It was so funny watching them chase this guy all over the city on some shitty 15mph scooter.

But yeah, most police chase videos today are boring and predictable. The one where the guy stole the tank from the Army base is still good though.

yeh, that one was awesome, they had like 20 police cruisers after him but they could do shit... shame it had to end the way it did, could've been more interesting, more drama (as long as no one got injured)
