who likes drum'n bass?
i do
I ate it.....To much politics...Can't get into it...Lord knows people have gotten me to try.....Can you say dragged to D n B parties....agghh.... I felt like jumping off a bridge into lake Ontario after the last Jungle party I was at....:P
I like drum n bass
My kung fu trainer is fairly known dj teebee.. I listened more to it before than now. Dillinja, goldie, photek and many more were my favorites..
Peace
not the parties, the MUSIC!!!!
who cares if parties suck or not, you dont listen to music at home for the parties
Thanks for the complement on an earlier thread. Didn't get a chance to reply to it...
I was into D&B in 1996-97. Then I got bored. It suffers the same problem Detroit Techno does: Define a genre by its limitations (keeping it 'true' or 'real'), and it doesn't have much room to evolve or grow. Just like a fish only grows as large as the bowl its in.
Goldie, Grooverider, Photek, LTJ Bukem, and Roni Size were some of the guys I used to listen to.
I was really into Goldie's stuff, especially his first album...

I love it!
I love listening drum & bass when your just chillin. I don't know shit about it though.
I, for one, like it.
In fact, I embrace all forms of electronica, except for NRG/Gabber/Happy Hardcore.
From
Drum 'n Bass
to
Trip Hop
From
Hard House
to
Deep Trance.
However, just talking about Drum N Bass, I'd save my favorites are:
- LTJ Bukem: Atmospheric DNB, imagine driving across the country listening to his stuff...
- Photek: Laid Back DNB, Good stuff, especially the form & function CD...
- Dieselboy: Deep Evil DNB, For those times when punching through walls and killing fluffy little bunnies isn't enough...
...
what? you didn't like my fluffy little bunnies analogy?

ah man, i love DnB... dont know much about it apart from that Good Looking Recordings is the best dnb label there is, hosting LTJ Bukem, Seba, Rantoul Big Bud etc... i dunno, breakbeaty dnb kinda sucks... i just like the jazzy stuff to chillout to
**This is funny that you mention it. I was spinning Drum and Bass until a couple of months ago when I switched to Trance (bigger market over here for it). The artists aforementioned (LTJ, Photek) really aren't considered 'hardcore' Drum and Bass to that crowd (FYI), the new 'thing' is Hardware label artists, such as Usual Suspects, Absolute Zero, and the Armageddon CD compilations. Dieselboy is popular stuff as well.
There is a whole sub-division of Drum and Bass that enjoys a newer-style (that I don't really care for), I'm sure you've heard it, where the 'rapper' raps over the spinning, much like how AK1200 pioneered. The only problem is you have these guys yelling over the music the entire time, freestyling, and its horrible! Everyone has their own tastes, and Ckerr812 is correct, that Drum and Bass just sounds like sped-up hip-hop. Good day.**

"Ckerr812 is correct, that Drum and Bass just sounds like sped-up hip-hop"
i disagree, i think its just sped up breaks... if you play a 45 at 33, then that's exactly what you get
not in my opinion, hiphop....
i havent heard any of that rapper stuff over d&b tho
and yea i like that dark stuff
and also trippy stuff which is fucking hard to beatmix
and vocals and strings and pianos (probably d&b cheese?)
**Oh I miscommunicated myself I'm sorry. I did not switch for money, I liked Trance before, but I happened to be in Drum and Bass. I think I mentioned before that Drum and Bass was popular over here. The club changed format, however, so I too had to change. It was for the better, however, because I did not like the direction Drum and Bass was going.
I agree with you, KevinExcite, the dark Drum and Bass is great. The evil sounds really do damage on the floor.**

But listening to too much of it kinda makes me go nuts after a while

Wtf?
I enjoy a little DnB altho I'm not a big fan of the genre in general...
You know what I think I might really enjoy, if anyone would have the guts to make it... TRANCEY DRUM AND BASS, and I don't mean just atmospheric. I mean REALLY trancey. But since DnB is like the ANTI-TRANCE genre that seems unlikely for any DnB producers to do, altho Breaks has already gone trancey (like Hybrid), so maybe Trancey Jungle/DnB is next logical evolution.
If there already is some GOOD Trancey DnB, I'd love to heard about it.
I highly recommend the J Majik drum and bass remix of Hatiras - Spaced Invader. It's the tranciest DnB that I've ever heard. The original track is a trancey House track.
Hatiras - Spaced Invader (J Majik remix)
download it from www.audiogalaxy.com or wherever you get your goods.
Sal
yeah my friend is a d&b dj, he's gonna lay down some cuts and sh** over my trancy stuff.... that is gonna be wack, i thinks...
wouldnt that be nuts, if the two blend beautifully... it coudl happen
Drum N Bass
I love Drum N Bass, but Trance more... Still nothin like hearin some hardcore bassy tracks when you need it.

DnB/Jungle...i like it if its Very Acidy or Dark Evil sounding shit ...and no Vocals please no!!!!
whenever i hear that Ragga shit..... i have to hold my mouth close because im scared i might throw up!!! that shit is the worst form of any electronic music...ever ever made...i would rather hear Cheeziest asss Europe Dance music then listen to Ragga Jungle......fuckin YUCK im sorry if some of u like it i just think its fuckin terrible....and anyhow does anyone understand what the fuck those ragga Mcs say anayway....... ok just thought i expressed my views..... and i know its not really DnB =)
Well I am kinda into raw d'n'b too.
Heard of Decoder? Technical Itch,Future Cut,Total Science,E-Sassin Bad Company and Dieselboy himself produce that sofrta type of very hard drum'n'bass.
If are into that kinda stuff then it's definately worth checking them out.
Peace.
