I didn't go in, but I passed by at around 1 am, and saw a line that went around the corner.
Did anyone not want to wait (or couldn't get in), and instead went to Arc? Didn't seem like it, but I'm wondering.

Ferry Rocked My World!!!!~~!!!!

OK I must say that was by far the most fun I've had ALL YEAR!! Getting to meet Ferry was amazing, although I left the booth after a few minutes to head back to the dance floor. I'm SUPER anxious for the tracklist so if anyone has it please post. I will post pictures once I download them from my camera. Does anyone know a guy named Young Blood?!? Well if you read this my friends and I want to thank you for making our night even more unforgetable. I'm kind of annoyed that I didn't meet any TA's, but a lot of my friends were first timers, so I had my hands full with them. Until the next time peace...

any body with a TL??????? Sounds like a good time...

Posted by tranceyguynyc on Nov-23-2003 21:06:

ferry was great. but ended at 4:30 !!!! club was too packed for my taste, and was louuuud. guess them boys at phazon figured how to make it loud, without hurting your ears, while others can't. he played tunes from Right of Way and remember classics like Verracocha - Carte Blanche, and System F - Out of the Blue. Closed with Corderoy - Sweetest Dream (Ferry Corsten Remix). hehe, heard about a little incident Lia, Ferry's wife had with security trying to get inside the dj booth.

Posted by CRZtoshi on Nov-23-2003 22:12:

Confused

ferry was pretty awesome last night... had a lot of fun!!!
I actually thought the club wasn't 2 crouded, and there was enough room 2 dance... cause avalon is pretty tiny, in my opinion, & thought it would get 2 crouded and hectic, but it wasn't bad at all... I love how they make there drinks really strong there!!!! ha ha ha ha 2 bad my friend got way 2 drunk and I had to babysit her arse to the bathroom every couple mins after he played Barber's Adagio for strings, so when I came back ferry was gone!! sux!! so what did I miss???

Hey tranceyguy that last track that Ferry played I can't seem to find it any where!! It was an awesome track. Are you sure that is how it is spelled? Do you know any mixes that it is on?!?! Thanks for your help.

what an amazing picture!!! very very nice job on that one redeye.

I too had a terrific night last night! I wasnt gonig to go but some peer pressure at 2:30 am got me to throw on some clothes and go and how glad I am that I did! the night was full of epic trax, including Gouryella - Walhalla (was it walhalla) I think this was the track...anyone remember? I lost my mind and was a dancing machine and I feel like I might have been dancing a little bit dumb sometimes I was having such a great time (yes the drinks are very strong there they helped facilitate sweeeet intoxication)

everyonwas having a great time, especially ferry who was dancing everywhere---he is so great....this was my frsit time seeing him spina nd avalon is perfect for him. I really am beginning to like Avalon alot...

Posted by AlphaStarred on Nov-24-2003 01:02:

hrm lets see - ok my review, the door was something that i expected which would pose as a problem...as always along with my group of usual suspects we had gotten on the line around 11pm. i was taken off the line for my sneakers first thing, so i went back to the car to change to shoes (which wasnt a problem) so my friends went in first and i went back to the car with my friend so we get back in line and nothing better than hearing ALL YOU GUYS RIGHT HERE GET OFF only guys with girls allowed in, funny cuz my group of friends including the girl that im seeing had gone in already, so i explained and was still told to get the hell off the line...great 12:30am and im still in line but at the END around the corner...FUCK the night is turning bad...however to my rescue my friends from boston were on their way down so they arrive at the club around 1:45am. yea i was in line for another hour (from the end to the front) thats when they arrived...so the same bouncer saw me in line and said "home boy i thought i told u to get off the line" my response yea u said only single guys without girls and to my side were my friends from boston...and he gives me this sorta smirk and im like so u sayin i can get off line and go right to the front like you was doing earlier right...his reponse was "ur right at the front u'll get in" geez man wat dicks but thats nothing new, i mean the establishment isnt all that big and i understand that they want more females in there than males...no problem.
so i get in and ferry is already spinning...from the 2nd floor u have a GREAT VIEW into the booth and from behind the booth there is a huge glass where u can see EVERYTHING!
my thoughts are that limelight definitely improved clubwise and sound wise....although the sound is significantly better than it was, it could use alil tweak.
as per ferry's set, hrm too short, i'd like to hear him play out the night like until 6am. he finished somewhere between 4:30-5am.

all in all a good night
but just for future reference - dress code is enforced to some degree
and i'd suggest going there with girls, all u groups of guys might have a hard time getting in, its either that or get there around 10pm.

Posted by DarkFall01 on Nov-24-2003 15:16:

A friend of mine went and he said that Ferry played a horrible set Supposedly he didn't really mix at times, he was just playing the track and started playing a new one out of nowhere.
I see you guys liked it, are these guys full of shit?

hmmm.. good thing i didnt go it seems..

Posted by EV Junkie on Nov-24-2003 15:34:

oh please tek! if that makes you feel better, than keep tellin yourself that! The night was amazing and ya know you regret it! besides, you are a DJ and im sure you know some people in the biz or would at least be able to finagle yourself into the front of the line.

Dark---ferry's set was far from horrible. Your friend is clearly mistaken-= not a single person left avalon saturday night unhappy

kid nyce---i saw you there! you were standing right in the entrandce to the dance floor (when you enter the club, you walk in a bit and then you make a right to get into the dance floor...I feel like I saw you right when one gets in.

And yes, the vantage point from upstairs is fantastic to see the DJ spin. The video screen below the DJ booth was a projection of ferry spinning too----so hot! his behavior behind the decks makes the show even better.

haha i was planning on going, but didnt feel good[physically] on sat. seems like it was a good night and im glad everyone had a great time.. but whats the deal with ferry ending at 4:30 ?? and if he finished at 4:30, what time did he get on ?

Posted by st0w on Nov-24-2003 16:46:

Quick chime in w/ my $0.02. I had a BLAST at Ferry, as always, and fortunately we were guestlisted and didn't have to deal with the line. The bouncers were still complete dickwads, and it really pisses me off that they're anti-sneaker. I dunno how you're supposed to dance comfortably all nite in nice shoes. And as others have said, the sound system needs tweaking for trance... it seemed to be lacking in mids to me. Didn't sound as lacking during DJ Rap's set, which would be expected given the style she was playing.

Does anybody know what remix of "Rock Your Body, Rock" he played?? The vocal sample sounded different from either the Extended, F. Massif, or Original Edits -- a lot longer and more drawn out. I really loved how it teased and then slammed in.

I dunno a full tracklist, but here's what I can pull from memory (not really in order, unfortunately)..

Boss@nova - Stone Cold (can somebody make a dub of this? ugh)
LNG - Inter City
Ferry - Punk
Ferry - Right Of Way
Ferry - Rock Your Body, Rock
Veracocha - Carte Blanche
BBE - Seven Days and One Week (was that his remix? re-released Positiva)

I'm racking my brain, but that's all I can remember right now, didn't get much sleep last nite. Hopefully others can add to it.

Posted by EV Junkie on Nov-24-2003 16:55:

Unhappy

I missed punk damnit.

I think the bouncers are fantastic at Avalon----for a nightclub they are muchy more patient than most places. Avalon is a world renowned venue and i personally think it is understandable that they dont want people in sneakers there---it isnt appropriate....it isnt a rave in a skatepark in upstate New York---ya know? Im not attacking you here at all, just trying to make my logic clear--

Posted by st0w on Nov-24-2003 17:08:

Understood.. I can see the logic, but at the same time, I don't think people in sneakers is more diminishing to the vibe of the club than a bunch of drunk, drugged up people wearing expensive AX clothing. Not to generalize, basically, there are good and bad people in both types of clothing. The clothes do not make the man... or woman... or whatever...

lol.. i dont believe in 'dressing up' to go clubbing.. are you serious ? you need to be in comfortable wear to be able to dance.. i think mike bindra knows what he's doing in terms of nyc nightlife.. all the made events are organized well without all the bull shit.

Posted by Trance@CU on Nov-24-2003 18:05:

Songs that I can remember....

Ocean Lab feat Justine Suissa Clear Blue Water (Ferry Corsten Remix) [I couldn't believe that he played this track!!1 It totally mellowed me out and took me to another place, amazing]
Ferry Corsten Punk
Ferry Corsten Rock your body rock
Right of Way
Motorcycle As the Rush Comes
Veracocha Carte Blanche
BBE 7 days and 1 week
Boss@Nova Stone Cold
Really hard thumping track from sensation white (DJ Rap)
Underworld Born Slippy (Paul Oakenfold Mix)
Mauro Picotto - New Time New Place
That's all I can remember so sorry. I thought that the guy in the booth who took that picture was making a tracklist?!? Here are some of my pics as well.

Posted by Trance@CU on Nov-24-2003 18:07:

hmmmm well I can't figure out how to attach pictures hehehe owell...

Posted by Mr Game+Watch on Nov-24-2003 18:30:

I don't get this whole bullshit about bouncers not letting you in unless you're with some girls. 99% of all the girls I know don't give a shit about trance music and thus wouldn't even be interested in going to see someone like Ferry. I heard that if you bought a ticket for Avalon in advance, you'd get in, no matter what (even if you're only with a group of guys)... And Arc, another "world renowned club" doesn't have a dresscode (at least to my knowledge), why does Avalon have one? Dresscodes at clubs are stupid, people should go dressed however they want (within taste).

thats why the crowd was so clueless. I got there for the dj before Rap and the people there were way too overdressed and the general attitude I got from them was that they were too good to be there. I got some stares because I was in jeans and sneakers and Wally was in pseudo-caffeine pants and sneakers while everyone we walked by was decked out in clothes specifically for lounges
