Ironic..
Its ironic that I discovered TA by the filename of an mp3 I d/l, yet TA does not support filesharing. Discuss?

i pretty much discovered TA from file sharing sites, cant remember which. Anyways, there are a bunch of tunes and sets off the front page.
The community doesn't support file sharing, but i havent read anything by the admin about his thoughts on file sharing, so i dont know.

swamper doesn't like filesharing on TA, and that's one of the reasons we don't support it (the other one being that you should buy cds, of course)... mmm... must get that latest hybrid cd... heh

Tranceaddict.com does not support illegal filesharing. All of the artist singles shared on the main page have okay'd to be shared by the artists, and in a certain instance the artist requested the track to be removed and it immediately was.

That statement is almost contradictory. First you say that artists need to approve the songs before they are posted. Then you go on to say that if that artist wants it removed, it will be. If the artist didnt want a track on there, it wouldnt be in the first place.
There is no statement on the singles page about legalities of file sharing. The only statement is: "If you are the producer / copyright authority on a track and wish it listed here then click Feedback above and let us know!" meaning if artists want their tracks up to send them.
I know there is a purpose for saying tranceaddict does not support blah blah blah, but its ineffective to reiterate what others say unless there is a sticky note from swamper himself. Since there is no sticky about file sharing, it doesnt mean that TA is against file sharing.

ok, then, post some mp3s for download or links or talk about where to download illegal mp3s. then you'll get a wake up call.

Yes as of recently but this definitely hasn't always been the case. You remember the Lange incident for example. I somewhat agree here. I would think a fair share of the people who come here and start the annoying 'where can i get mp3s' threads have come because they associate the TA with mp3's because of the tags on tracks. In my opinion there should be some kind of announcment at the top of the forum, and there should also be some sort of notice when you actually register that states TA does not support file sharing.

look if TA is really against file sharing there should be a sticky thread and a statement on the singles page (although a statement on the singles page would contradict the fact anyways).
i know that file sharing is not allowed in general in the forums, but if TA truely beleives in no file sharing the tracks should be removed from singles and live sets page.

PM swamper, if you you're too worried about this, he'll think something up.

Swamper would have thought of this if he was concerned about file sharing. So file sharing is probably not an issue anyways.

once again, why do you think all the threads get closed with a comment "ta doesn't support filesharing"?
first of all, swamper's a very busy man, he doesn't have time to sit around all day and post here, he's got tons of things to do.
and second of all, noobs don't give a shit about stickies. they don't search, they don't read, they come in and post right away.

there used to be a sticky that would tell you where to get songs
lol
sucks to be a newbie
