The PCs have kicked the G5s ass

wooooow
if you've got the money macs are great computers.
but if you really know what you are doing, you can build a top of the line PC that can blow them out of the water
as was done in this comparison (alienware is prolly the best PC maker on the block).
the whole mac vs. pc debate is blaaah
i personally love PC's in the fact that i canbuild them, customize them and have so many more options with them.
but if i had the money i'd buy a nice g4 laptop with the software i really wanted.
i represent the poor musician/

OMG i bet i got the worst pc here check thes stats out it's an emachine
1.0 GHz celeron processor
128MB memory i upgraded to 256
20GB HD
Don't laugh to hard k
alienware computers are so overpriced its rediculous. for the comp I just put together, it would have cost me $1000 USD more just to buy the exact same thing from alienwear, with less mods and customizations (silent heatsinc, quiet psu, vga heatpipe cooler, panaflows, etc).

| Originally posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 My friend has an Alienware and my computer can run laps around it. We got them around the same time, only I built mine. He went 2.6GHz Pentium 4, I went with 2.6GHz P4 w/ hyper-threading. My RAM is faster than his too, I'm running 1GB 400MHz DDR RAM while he's just running 1GB DDR RAM (not sure which speed). My computer also runs a whole 10-degrees Celsius cooler than his. I think this company would kick the shit out of both: http://www.go-l.com/home/index.htm |

| Originally posted by neoh no, it's not dangerous. You can run a computer from a motherboard lying on a table, as long as it's not grounded to anything, it's fine. There is no electricity that can be physicaly touched for a shock, on the mainboard or anywhere else that's exposed, and it's also under a desk in where it cant be touched at all. And computers dont give off radiation, usualy the monitors do, so I'm not really worried. It runs without a CPU fan, it's a 166 w/32MB of RAM and a 1.0GB HDD running debian linux 2.4.20 - it has an uptime of 389 days and 0% load average |
