Cool Haak - Frenzy (Luke Terry Remix)

i got bored, it ain't finished but i ain't posted anythin on here for ages...

Haak - Frenzy (Luke Terry Remix v1)

btw, the reason why it's 133 bpm is coz i was gonna use shaun's vocal riff so i had it looped to that, but then i changed my mind heh

comments if u can be arsed.....

ta,
luke

Not a bad little effort mr terry. Adds another good alternative to the original, tho it does need cleaning up in parts but u dont need me to tell you where

I dont like the breakbeat, they sound like they shouldn't be there..

the rest is nice, maybe needs mastering with a bit more treble.

Posted by Martin McG on Nov-28-2003 13:04:

nice track overall

i especially like the synths

i do think the track needs more to it though, seems rather standard
something to make it stand out more

like a big dirty synth

nice job

I'd like a longer bit of that, actually, they're great.

I'm not really liking the bassline though...

Posted by JohnOC on Nov-28-2003 17:30:

really liked this, could have been about 3bpm faster..the synths are deadly, and i like the breaks-good interpretation of the strings aswell!

great remix

Posted by Fundamental on Nov-28-2003 17:58:

Yeah, you seriouly need to crank this one up a bit.

I'm really liking the breakbeat part, sounds massive. Think the outro is a bit too long though. Maybe needs more melody-ish elements in it, coz the main melody seems to come and go so quickly...

Great work though. Will be looking forward to hearing a second version.

its 133 coz i was gonna use shaun's vocals, do a full hamsterdance-esque time thing hehe

decided against it tho, next version will prolly be 138 or summat reasonable

u know what i think since i told you, but i liked it at 140bpm when i put it in my mix

Posted by PEZ68 on Nov-29-2003 23:01:

Yeah , I love the first part , before the melody .... nice introduction , not so slow . however the melody is too slow and not very original compared with the ...original :-/ same for the breakbeat , enough of theses melody+breakbeat style , we need innovations.

Nice work though

Comments as I listen.

That first sample whoosh you use sounds really cool, but it has some white noise in the background that just drops out at 10 seconds when the clip ends. Get a cleaner sample, or add delay to it so that it doesn't just drop out all of a sudden.

Good pads.

The breakbeat is good, but the snare needs to be WAY louder. Right now the kick dominates it in a major way.

Bassline isn't my cup of tea. Could be louder and maybe a little more distorted too.

Pretty good percussions.

Love the hook, really nice and clean sounding.

Good drive to the track, but I would really like some other bass layer. Add something on top of the single off-beat bassnote that you currently have.

Good pads in the breakdown. Really like em. 3:36 it sounds out of key for a second though.

Good sound to the lead, like it a lot.

Again, that breakbeat needs about 4000x more snare

Sounds great after buildup.

Good job on the remix. My main suggestions would be to seriously beef up the bassline and get a new snare for the breakbeat. It could also use a few more filler sfx kicking around in the background a la original. Keep it up!

You've got a lot of really good elements in here, finish it up and post a hi-fi!

Posted by Massive84 on Nov-30-2003 16:14:

Hey Luke

Well powerfull Kick like always, percussion is tight!, synths are very nice..
only thing i think is, that buildup(lead) does not match the climax..but i think that, that is a matter of taste .

Posted by Luke Terry on Nov-30-2003 22:01:

Cool

cheers for the feedback, i kno there is quite a bit to be sorted, that even u lot have missed out on like the click b4 the string break bit

the whitenoise whoosh thing is sampled from my kc and the cable i have atm is shit and mono, but that will be getting fixed, it aint noticeable on the lead coz i think the synth covers teh same freq as the hiss

the snare was quiet on purpose, it seemed to work in ferry vs thrillseekers - sublime anyway

massive mate, the idea of my build was not to match the melody because all the other remixes just use the melody as a build, thought i would try summat a bit different.

anyways, cheers for the feedback, mite finish if i can be arsed

Posted by dbl on Nov-30-2003 23:31:

hmmm.. kinda like the breakbit, but think it need's more snare's or something... sounds kinda empty

the bass need's something more.. either just a phatter one, but maybe just put something more over it

otherwise it sounds niice

would like too hear a faster version thou

A quiet snare is fine with a kick that matches it. IMO, the kick you're using uses too much high/mid end for a snare that's that quiet. Just one suckah's opinion though!

Posted by TOR on Dec-01-2003 10:32:

good remix.

a bit standard as somebody else said, but i like what you did with the melody in the build-up.
synths are massive as well.

good effort!

Posted by Digital Rain on Dec-06-2003 01:29:

I like the breakbeat part a lot, the entire track sounds very good, the only thing I didn't like was the speed, could be a bit faster, otherwise excellent remix.

Posted by AZCA on Dec-07-2003 04:24:

niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Luke Terry is the best!

Posted by Shepless on Dec-07-2003 16:55:

Hey Luke...sorry for the delay!

The tune...

Very good indeed, however the bass is very simple, and I didnt think it did the rest of the track justice! But sometimes simple is better!

The production is tops as usual so no complaints there, only problem I had was with the bass! Reminded me of PVD too much, and im not a massive fan of PVD and his basses

Anywhos, keep it up m8!

Shep

Cool

cheers for the feedback

i am gonna finish this, played it out on thursday and got a great reaction to it

it's now up to 138 bpm and all the better for it, the bass is going to be minorly altered along with a few other things, some more fx and that

Posted by RaVeRSurGe_NYTA on Dec-30-2003 03:13:

omg totally pwnz mk-s remix.... post up the new version if you can

Posted by bluelimitd on Dec-30-2003 08:04:

overall I'd say its a great track! I dont know how much input I could give on it, being as that I am not a producer myself, but as an everyday TA, I would say its well done.
