dvd players that play almost all formats.without hassles

or does it?

i'm looking for a dvd player that plays almost all types of cds and dvds and vcds and svcds and bla bla bla ......

i have an apex dvd player . the really cheap 35 bucks one but it looks outdated and i'm looking at the apex AD2600 model. looks promising and cheap also. just 50 bucks.

i like the way my old dvd players plays mpeg and jpeg files without the hassle and process of encoding your cdrs into vcd or svcd formats. that annoying. you just just throw some jpeg and mp3s and mpeg vids on a cdr and the player plays all with menus to sort them out.

high end dvd players don't even do this at all.

Wait for the iRiver DVD player. That's what I'm doing. It will be firmware upgradable like all of their portable audio products (which are some of the best on the planet), so it will eventually be able to play all known video formats. I'd love the idea of just throwing a CD or DVD in a player with files (mixed: DV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DivX, XviD, AVI (any type) video, MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, ASF, audio etc.) on it and just being able to play them all with ease. I'd love a player that has the audio functionality of Winamp 2.91 + some personal favourite plugins like MP3CUE (for jumping to individual tracks within an audio file by use of a Cuesheet file) and the video functionality of whatever the best PC software video player is (Can anyone let me know what's the best player for video? I use WinDVD for DVDs, SVCDs, and VCDs and Winamp 2.91 for AVIs and MPEG-1s.).

Yeah but, since it's first-generation, it probably only allows certain resolution and the DivX probably doesn't allow certain audio formats (read: MP3, Ogg Vorbis). I bet teh DivX version isn't the LATEST and isn't very high quality... I think I'll pass and just get a nice PC with big monitor (read: http://www.Go-L.com/ ), and do all video work there. Thanks!

Yeah, and PUT LINUX ON IT!!! NOW, IT'LL PLAY EVERYTHING! Including games from other systems via emulation! I'm glad emulation exists because I miss all those 8- and 16-bit and some 32-bit games from the nineteen-nineties!
