Nick Warren

I am really starting to like his stuff. I just heard him recently for the first time. What kind of trance is he. Also, what are some good Livesets and/or cds?

Posted by Strike on Nov-28-2003 20:57:

Nick Warren's GU 024 is pretty nice
Way Out West is just a given

Posted by Evil_Gnome on Nov-28-2003 20:59:

Reykavijk is way different from his previous GUs; it's breaks and chilled progressive house. Budapest, Brazil, Amsterdam, and Prague are all pretty much different degrees of progressive trance. Way Out West, which is he half of along with Jody Wisternoff, is progressive trance as well, and one of the sharpest and most professional electronic music production groups out there.

I can tell you that GU:Budapest is worth a listen. I found it to be quite trancy actually plus it's loaded with top tracks.

And WoW ownz.

Budapest and Reykjavik are def. worth a listen. I didn't like Amsterdam that much

I'm one of the few people who think much of Amsterdam. I consider it pretty underrated

Prague sounds kinda old, you can say it didn't really stand the test of time although it features some classics like Beachball and I think Cafe Del Mar. Brazil is "oldskool" trance mixed with breaks. Budapest is pumping fresh prog-trance that still does the trick. Amsterdam is as I said different but IMO awesome. CD 1 beginning all melodic and chill, in true Holden style, then build up to groovy prog. CD 2 picks up where CD1 ended with Prog House as I'm lovin' it culminating with Revolt's Dive into the Deep followed by the techno smasher by Thomas Heckmann and ending with ambient. A real trip.
Not much needs to be said about Rejkyavik. Tracks like Nobody's Homr or vector - Rise are already enoug of a reason to go out and buy this baby!

I've only listened GU011 Budapest and I can say it's quality, worth to listen. Am I wrong if I say he played some goa in this set? or is just my imagination?

GU Amsterdam is CLASS... get it- very underrated in my opinion...

%%%

I think he is sliping. The last GU cd sucked. never realy went any where. Brazil GU tops off for warren.

I've seen Nick Warren spin, he does magik with 3 turntables simultaneously.

Flawless mixer, I would say that his sets range from Ambient, melodic-progressive moods....with a few vocal thrown in every now and then.

With Jodie Westernoff (other half of Way Out West), they base a lot of their previous remixes on Breakbeat formulas. Excellent stuff. Check out WOW Remix of Lustral - Everytime.

His Back to Mine CD is a pleasure. He posts at GU Boards for what it's worth. Damn comical man he is.
