Satan (eek!) 4 Strings!!! AMAZING!!!

I've been listening to trance for quite a while, but it's been mostly just mainstream and what friends have been listening to. I recently came across 4 Strings, which I had never heard of. I listened to Summer Sun and Square - Nova (4 Strings Mix) and they were absolutely amazing. I just love the way the music sounds and is put together. I would be grateful if anyone could mention artists such as 4 strings to check out. Anyone that remotely sounds the same. I love scanning these boards and I'll try and post as much as I can here.

I just remember how it all started with 4 Strings - Into the Night

Posted by Azz3D on Dec-01-2003 12:20:

It's not really my thing but, when I heard it (into the night) on the radio I almost shit my pants...

I closed all my sets with Into the Night about 16 month...
Still my all-time favorite.
Now Carlo sounds a little bit repetitive for me.

Okay.. stop kidding. 4 Stings have got some nice tunes, if you listen to the dub versions. One is Daytime, its beautiful without vocals.

.... And dont compare 4 strings with Ian van Dale and Dj Sammy, 4 strings is much better.

They're album is complete shite. Horrid tracks. I like revelation, and Into The night, and maybe Let It Rain if i'm in that cheesy kind of mood (all instrumental versions of course.) But everything else is complete wankness imo.

Posted by doof doofer on Dec-01-2003 13:47:

I tried to work out how many times the chick says "summer sun" in the track of the same name...but i lost count after about 30...its fuckin ridiculous.

Posted by Snooper on Dec-01-2003 14:16:

4 Strings makes some nice tunes from time to time, like "Let It Rain", "Daytime" and "Into The Night", but I must say I lost some respect for him when he put vocals on "Into The Night" and re-named it. Horrible cheese, IvD class. "Diving" was also shite. But what the hell, he's sure making some good money......

Re: Re: 4 Strings!!! AMAZING!!!

I think 4 Strings are amazing, they produce some great tracks (and are good djs if you ever see them live or download their livesets, that one that opened with Solid Globe - North Pole.... *faints*)

My sister who is a typical teeny bopper listened to Into the Night quite a few times when it was being played every second on radio and "liked it", but when I played some of their over tracks she thought they were shite (Diving and Let It Rain) I dunno what it's like around the world, but where I live i've never heard Diving or Let It Rain on the radio so I don't in anyway consider it in anyway cheesy. I got a little sick of hearing Into the Night, but the track flows so well I reckon it deserved to hit the mainstream.

And dont forget their remix of Desire

Wow, some of you guys are dicks...In Orange County there's hardly anyone into techno or trance. It's all rock and roll and hip hop. While most of you have heard of 4 Strings, I haven't. If you don't like them, that's cool, but I mean c'mon. Show some respect to the people that do.

Anyways, any other artists that sound the same as 4 Strings or have the same style?

Oh right I see your logic there. We don't like them, and from what I can see noone was arrogant in their posts, but nevertheless we are 'dicks' for thinking this. Good one mate.

Behold, my arse.

My post was probably directed to you for the most part. You're acting like you're king of the forums. Wow, you're giving everyone else on this board a bad rep, MATE. Maybe I better stick to the car forums...

Yes but what did I say at the very end of my post? I said "IMO." Fucking tool.

Posted by mndeg on Dec-01-2003 22:37:

search for posts with the title classics
or favorite tracks

can't go wrong with those
personally i don't like into the night, vocal or dub

I've been also a into the night addict. The Gabriel and Dresden dub of this one is a monster. Check that one out.

Ahem, I can smell a tool here and it definitely isn't RaizM. Lets look at the facts, you come into a thread where the topic is clearly the praise of 4 Strings, yet the only thing you can contribute is

Ok, an opinion yes but why voice it here? Why not start your own 4 STRINGS ARE COMPLETEL SHITE thread? You're just as bad as those tools that go into forums saying 'HONDA SUX FAGS' in a thread titled 'I love the S2000'. But hey, you're better then those people.

Hmmm... I guess you've purchased then listened to every 4 Strings track to come to this opinion? I guess I should apologize that I bought Let It Rain, Into the Night and Diving on lp because it's shit? I guess I must have a pretty shit taste in music.

Hey, you wouldn't wanna loose your ego by listening to the vocal dubs eh? Music is music.. and I thought rock fans were bad.

Some of the 4 Strings livesets i've listened to have had a lot more trance then what's been played by the likes of Paul van Dyk lately.

Believe is pretty good

Posted by starglider on Dec-02-2003 06:03:

Yeah, the vocal mixes are a bit shit but I don't mind a lot of his work. Diving wasn't so great but Let It Rain is quite nice really. You get the feeling though that he kinda stopped trying after Into The Night...

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Dec-02-2003 06:29:

hey no one mentioned 'fly away' ..
that's a great track ..
yeah .. first heard 'into the night' ,, pvd's 'politics of dancing' or course. .. best album by pvd of course ..

but no dissing 4 strings .. they're not as bad as other popular trance djs, where they're pretty pathetic with their over-advertising and over-playing on the radio and clubs ..

Posted by Cobalt on Dec-02-2003 06:39:

I think the instumental of Diving is his best work under the 4 Strings guise, along with Revelation. A very often overlooked track off the (admittedly cheesy) album is Eastern Vibe, which I feel is nearly on par with Into The Night. The instumental of Let It Rain isn't too bad, but the rest of the album is forgettable.

To the thread started, check Paul van Dyk's sets.

Thanks for behaving like true music enthusiasts the rest of you (still showing appreciation even though you may or may not like the artist's music). I'll definately check out the classics thread(s).
