I enspire myself with a copy of amature photographer...

Only joking, i try to make my own style but listen to alot of live sets techno and trance and pick out ideas and put them all together with my own melodies. It all depends really...

if you listen too my music you probably wount think it.. hehe.. but robert miles kinda got me into producing music..... i liked his music.. especially the Dreamland album so i tryied out ejay and such shit.. then i got a roland mc 303 and later on fruityloops... but i have never done anything like robert miles really.

right now i dunno what inspires me... i'm just playing around with melodies and then it just come's.....

sometimes i just sit down and listen too some midi's and get inspiration from them..... the melodies mostly turns out all different from the midi i got my inspiration from.... hehe

and they hardly turn out as full track's for some reason.. heh

I used to listen to The Crystal Method alot, theyre not big here in the uk so I had to import their albums, I used to listen to their stuff and be like WOW, I didnt reconise any of the sounds they use and their music was EPIC.
I hated Trance and Dance music and I would bitch on about it all day, saying how much its overrated etc.
To put an end to the lack of good electronic music I decided to get more involved with it and take this music thing seriously in my life.
I practiced making breakbeats and cool pads/basslines.

A year on I listen to Trance and Dance music 90% of my day as Im so deeply involved in it, The more I listen the more I can hear how its mixed etc
As soon as I go a few days without listening to It I loose that Idetification with it, and you know what, I think I might just like it a little.
I know I respect it thats for sure.(minus things like scooter, madhouse etc)

As for Crystal method, the dudes who got me into this.
Well their latest album sucked.

No it didn't.

Anyways;
I couldn't really tell what inspires me as such. I draw inspiration from everything I see, hear and do.
Of course, there are certain artists who I hear more than others but I don't think any of them have inspired me directly.

i inspire myself with porn.

lol, no...i just base my remixes on elements from others work that i really like and try to keep it flowing...usually this doesnt work and i end up with crap cheese.

Taking excedrin inspires me. In all honesty, the caffeine (a cup of coffee's worth in each pill) gives me so much motivation that all i have to do is listen to something like tranceairwaves for 20 minutes and i have a lot of ideas.

YES, coffee/caffine helps a lot.

I wouldn't say it that way - it rather keeps me awake when I keep doing the tracks to 4-5am

ahh I love that situation, that's when the best things come out

well my inspiration, dunno really...have big problems with that right now...I'm kind of blocked...

one thing that I know inspires me a lot is really epic music like the maintheme from gladiator and music in that style, gives me thousands of ideas

thats exactly what I meant

Caffeine helps me focus. Whereas usually it would make you bounce off of the walls, for me it just lets me really concentrate. I get some of my best ideas an hour after a headache goes away.

Okay it doesnt really suck, but it feels like it was made before vegas and Tweekend

And I know how it sounds because the Promo CD was released and the files are on Soulseek.

hmm i didnt really think what inspire me when i asked that question lol but for me is i can say paul van dyk and oakenfold kinda inspired me the way the crowd goes insane when they re spinnin and it makes me wanna experience it too but what really started me with all this is mauro picotto,s album iguana and a lot of early trance i herd back in russia like robert miles zhi vago- celebrate the love and stuff liek that also binary-finary my favorite al time

LOLOL some of you guys are hilarious with your posts... The guy saying he doesn't hear voices and stuff... the guy who said, "as for the band that got me into this, their last album sucked". OMG this thread is classic.

As for what inspires me, it boils down to a basic few things:

1. Attention from the opposite sex
2. Looking at artists like PVD, who will be loved and honored most of their lives because of all the special memories they re-create for all of us... for them to be able to share their feelings and story with the world, is really a dream come true. I want to be able to live the same dream one day
3. Sometimes I can't find a song that fits exactly how I'm feeling, or doesn't move me in the way I want to be moved. When this happens, I can sometimes write my OWN song, which provides me with that feeling. I can then smile and hope that it will do the same for someone else
4. Therapy - sometimes its good to encapsulate a good or bad time in my life into a single or group of songs. That way I have that memory forever, immortilized in a piece of music... And in the case of 'bad' times, it usually makes the pain go away... Kind of like gets it off my chest. Ok I haven't written many 'bad'/'sad' trance songs (mostly rock), but you get the idea.

I think any of us would be lying if they didn't feel the same about #1. That would be kind of like those idiots everyone knows who pretend they think pornos are stupid, yet we all know they are just saying that to seem like the most sensitive guy so they can score with chicks.
