Scratching to 135bpm plus

Right,
Iv been trying to scatch to trance n house for ages now, im getting there but finding it hard. I know that you have to scratch in a tottally different way to hip hop because of the tempo differnce. You just cant scratch like you would to hip hop to trance cause you physically cant move your hands fast enough. Yet some scratches that i can do sound shit to hip hop but put to trance they sound loads better cause of the increased speed which you have to do them at. Iv been looking on the internet for scratching help sites but there all based on hip hop. Does anybody know any ones which are geared to trance? Or does anybody have any tips on scratching to trance and house? Like specific scratches or anything really. At the moment im learning just from listening to djs who scratch, like eddie halliwell and trying to work out how the scratch is done and then doing it. Any ideas anybody?

brilliant... search the forum for his video with sasha @ mondaybar,
its a 10mb 4:30min vid of him finishing his set (scratching like

Its a common myth that its purely the movement of the record that gives the scratching effect

Its the fader movement that gives the effect and it is this that takes time to master

Put it this way- drum&bass is faster than trancey stuff-even garage is faster than most house- and i and many others scratch over that all the time.

Im sure nem will give you some tips- hes been cutting and scratching a lot longer than me

I understand that its the fader which is most important but uv still gotts move that hand really fast to, to do a transformer for example at 90bpm is hard enough but youve gotta go much faster for 130bpm or half the speed your transforming at. The reason why a lot more people scratch to drum n bass is you can use the hip hop style scratches. Drum n bass which is generally 160bpm up means you can use the same scratches you would for 80bpm up in exactly the same way and theyl be in time. Just like if you were mixing say 200bpm for some reason you could use the same scratches for 100bpm. The problem is if you do hip hop scratches which were supposed to be used at 90bpm say at 130bpm you cant move quick enough yet if you do them at 65bpm though sound shit coz you aint doing them fast enough. Do you get what i mean? Its all maths. Problem is trance n house r stuck in the middle for using hip hop scratches, ud be able to do hip hop scratches which sounded good if you mixed at like 160bpm like drum n bass but i dont wana do that. Ya get me? Its why scratching goes well over hardcore to.

I've been going to parties in southern california for some time now and there is a specific dj that i love to watch because he can tear it on the tables while scratching to some pretty tite tracks. his name is dj theo, you might have heard of him. i've seen him about twenty times and he never fails to throw some scratches down on some pretty sick beats. you should check him out.. he may help you.
