Mini Disc versus MP3 Cd Players

Your choice ? and why ?

Posted by Fraggle on Jul-21-2001 07:23:

for me...md

why?...80 to 320 second anti-skip memory!!!
...& it's about 1/4 the size of cd/cd-player
...disks are re-usable
...can edit & add/remove tracks after recording
...one battery lasts 30 hours
...can do live/voice recordings & don't need a pc to record
(ie. record from cd, tuner, lp, other md etc.)
...fits in small pockets
...just looks cooler thank bulky cd players!!!

of course, cdr's are a lot cheaper tho
...& record a lot faster than md

md

same reasons as fraggle's....

fucking cost too much to get a decent one in vancouver

Dog Running

I have the cd mp3 player only, but cd mp3 player can:
1. read cd-rw
2. play mp3 & audio-cd
3. also resume tracks/anti-shock functions.

My Sony cdmp3 is great!

I have many, many MP3 CDs, so I'd buy an MP3 CD player.
That's better, I think.

Uh how do you do that???
700mb / 15 cd's = about 45 mb. Small cd's?

Posted by LiquidX on Jul-23-2001 22:10:

Well, I like Mini Disc better because with it, songs last longer, sound better ( supposedly ) and you can hook it up to your computer and burn Mp3's onto the Mini Discs, can take it anywhere , small, and well, I just like it better.

Posted by fastmp3 on Jul-23-2001 22:24:

I can use my MP3 Cd Player for 15 hours non stop
And it's smaller than usual Cd Players

Posted by Opti on Aug-06-2001 10:55:

md

just because of the size of the md player

Posted by Armageddon on Aug-09-2001 05:22:

MD MD MD all the way.

Same reasons as above due to it's small size and cheapness if you want to take more discs with you. Recording through optical is just unbeliveably easy.

Also I'd say that they have much better sound quality then MP3s (unless encoded at 256kbps) since they are using ATRAC compression.

A!

MD by far =)

like many others have said..
-looooooonngggg battery time, one time 1 battery lasted 39 hours!
-reusable discs (although there are cd-rw)
-no need for a cd burner which many cant afford
-optical recording, good also because Soundcards are coming with Optical-Outs in em!!!
-normal stereo jack recording
-MD's are small
-CD play are big
-MP3 Players CAN (not ARE) be prone to crashes and not being able to read the data

i dunno.. personal preference, whether you want style, size and quality or sheer storage compacity of a MP3-CD player.. also MP3-CD's copy music quicker instead of the real-time recording of MD's, thats all i have to say!

Posted by PhaseFour on Aug-15-2001 05:34:

MD!

md is better cause u dun need to buy an extra burner to create the cd. Just plug hte md player-recorder intot he usb port...and boom! u got the music

Posted by Abbas on Aug-18-2001 20:17:

I have to say I like the concept of the MP3 CD Player, I haven't seen great MD players here, MP3 players with flash cards are simply the best, waiting for the advancement in those to arrive!

Posted by Walter Mindz on Aug-19-2001 09:14:

All i know is Mp3 cd players eat batteries like crazy and Mini-disks are so much better, you can get like 300 mins of music on those things plus hook them up to your computer to record, but i don't know shit about how long batteries last in those, so i chose Mini-Disks!!

Posted by Fraggle on Aug-28-2001 09:14:

err, apart from the one that *is* a mp3-cd player...they all have less than 128mb memory

...next to useless imo

at least md costs very cheap for each disk, compared to memory for the mp3 players!

MD! offcourse.
soo much smaller and better looking with much more features. ONly the price is a little more expensive.

Posted by lMIlk on Sep-10-2001 09:41:

md is the best! i think i'm obsessed with them. i have a mzr90 and a mze90, the size makes it so easy to carry around everywhere and listen to at school.
