help i can't get online!

my computer started running real slow and freezing up on everything, now it won't even let me sign onto aol, it keeps saying i have low virtual memory...it's really annoying me but i just don't know what to do about it...can someone help? thanks!!! i'm going crazee without a computer at home!

hmmm... for one, add some damn RAM to your system... If you're running on XP or Win2K (which is what it sounds to me) get rid of some extra shit you have running at the same time. Shut down some services that you don't normally use... On a second thought, don't touch services - you'll just fuq it up more.

AND ONE LAST BIT OF ADVISE: GET RID OF FUCKING AOL- IT'S THE LAMEST ISP EVER... PERIOS... i'm surprised I'm even responding to some AOL user....

delete the non essential crap on your computer. turn off anything that runs in the task bar that you dont need. restart your computer. try defragmenting it.

.get more ram, but for now, if your using XP, check to see how much virtual memory your using if not all of it already. right click on my computer, select properties, click the advanced tab, the click the setting under the performance section. A new window will open. in it select the advanced tab. Look that the bottom there and it should say total paging size. That's the size of virtual mem, your computer is using from you hard drive.. Click on change and change that to the max if its not already. This is only temporary. You must be short on ram and hard drive space, so deleted stuff, run less programs at once and get more ram and a new hard drive

hahaha! cmon! i can't get online from my home computer, that is what i'm trying to fix, i still have ways to get online, just not form home! lol

mike- thanks for the good advice, when i get home tonite i'm going to give that a try and see if that helps

Id change min and max to twice the amount of ram.

i would download some system diagnostic tools , run scandisk and check for viruses aswell, Blaster and Welchi slows down the computer, and are un noticeable to virus scanners.
