Is he spinning? or is he doing his trademark decks EFX & 909 kind of set?

I'd love to see him spin that kind of live PA, ive heard its outstanding

Technically one of the best DJ's out there. Track-wise anything from minimal to bombastic swedish kickass techno. Porgramming is mindblowing. He'll make you dance on a certain rhythm and then drop basslines and breaks out of fucking nowhere only to have you scream your head off and dance like . At least that's what he did to me. My fav. Techno dj.

I don't know, I'll tell you on friday. Also in some sets he uses Final Scratch.
In what consists this kind of set with EFX & 909?
Cheers! to everybody,

but forget interaction with the crowd...this man makes pvd looks like a pr manager on prozak

Posted by chesco on Dec-04-2003 16:34:

its all about dex efx and 909.

i missed the opportunity to see him a few weeks back as none of mates wanted to go.

my brother said @ cocoon with him and vath playing there is no other dj in the world who comes close. allen and heath have made him his own mixer so it can co-ordinate with the tonnes of equipment he needs. apparently he's like a live act and dj mixed in to one.

Its funny you mention this. I saw Hawtin back in August 2002 and he was as you said the most focussed man on earth, showing no reaction whatsoever and constantly working. Then I saw him this summer, at creamfields, and he totally changed. Not only his hairstyle (going from moby-bald to sven vaeth look) but also his attitude, being outgoing and really interactng with the crowd at times. Surely the time with Mr. Sven changed him, music is still banging though.

Not likely since Hawtin and Vath have worked closely together for the last 4 years of Cocoon..

The first time you saw him he was probably doing his full Decks and FX thing, and At Creamfields he was probably just doing a normal set there for he was enjoying the buzz a bit more cos he didnt have to concentrate so much...

not true, he did the edits and FX thin opn both shows. He just changed, maybeit took Sven 4 years to brainwash him but fact is that he had his new haircut since tome warp in april 2003

Posted by The Don on Dec-04-2003 21:38:

He was only using Final Scratch at Creamfields this year off of his modified Mac Powerbooks.

He didnt have any of his midi effects..

Great night!! yesterday. With this guy you can't stop to dance. He did a set of 4 hours (oh! my legs...) and he was really concentrated in the set only at the end of the session he interacted with the crowd. I saw a pair of Apple computers so I suppose he used Final Scratch. but I don't know if he used only FS cuz also I saw how sometimes he changed the vinyls. (I'm not an expert in dj's tools and technics but I saw this).
Cheers,
