i was thinking of going to this too, if i can get out of work early enough. but the way i'm fooling around today, i'm not sure i'll be productive enough to leave work early....

well, we'll see. I'd get there around 6:30-7pm if I go. I wish I had my cell so I could try meeting up with some of you!

Trees scare me. Being stuck in a forest I don't know, in the dark, and alone is one of my biggest nightmares. This is like the stay-puft marshmallow man of trees....

On topic part... uhm... I'll prolly be there...

Posted by wallflower on Dec-04-2003 02:46:

So I went... I was on the far side on 48 St - probably the worst way to go, since the subway comes out there, so everyone also goes that way. I had a pretty good spot, but then all these people were pushing and shoving. The worst was when people tried to get out. When the time came for the lighting, this sign was blocking my view, so I saw about only a quarter of the tree..
I saw all this space on the other side of the street as well.
Getting out afterwards was a mess too.
Kinda sucks when you can't move at all. My legs were numb when I came out. I think I lost some toes too.

i ended up not going... I didn't want to deal with the crowd, so instead I went to Best Buy to buy myself a new CD Burner and pick out speakers & a receiver for xmas/birthday/chanukah presents.

who else went? what does a tree-lighting ceremony entail, anyway? was there entertainment for a couple of hours beforehand, or did everybody just stand there waiting for the lights to go on, then leave?

Isn't there random street vendors going around trying to sell glow sticks, mini christmas trees and tee shirts that say " I <3 THE XMAS TREE LIGHTING" ?
