Sasha in Bombay tonight!

.....as usual, at Famous Studios, Mahalaxmi. Just got my tix! Seen him with Digweed once in L.A., but this is my first time seeing him on his own.

so how long did sasha play for...what time did it go on till?

Posted by zoheb on Dec-04-2003 06:04:

I think he played for around a good 2 and half or 3 hours!!

Posted by Buddhistics on Dec-04-2003 09:38:

It was a decent night. He was only playing CD's though, and it was a bit too proggy for me, but a pretty smooth set none the less. I'd give it about a 7/10. Was a very well organized show though, better than Jules and PVD at the same venue. Sorry - can't ID any of the tracks he played, but he did go on for a good 3 hours.

The whole Euro-electronica scene is just about beginning to grip India. It's still kinda an immature market for Sasha's kinda music, but it's an emerging market none the less. We've already had Jules and PVD play over here, and now Lee Burridge is playing in Goa on the 26th and Pune on the 27th. I think many DJ's are looking more closely at India now as a good place to play at. Rumors of Tiesto coming down are also in the pipeline - but they're just rumors as of yet.

And for all you Psy-maniacs - refer to Zohebs post earlier - what a killer line up - I'm buying my tickets now!!

I would be doing more than hitting my head

you seriously have not seen a dj, until you see either James Zabiela or Sasha.

Posted by zoheb on Dec-04-2003 12:56:

what's a VJ?

Posted by dusk on Dec-07-2003 01:12:

OMG! I couldn't believe what I was reading... Sasha in Bombay??? Wow.. how unbelievable is that!!! I would have been tripping if I were home... oh well I hope you guys had a great time. Its weird though.. didn't think the bombay crowd was into prog house as much as say trance or psy. Maybe its time made a trip back

Dancing Dude

*runs around in a daze*
*bangs head on any hard object he can find*
*tries to pull his hair out*
*tries to pull his head off*
*has gone completely insane*
*starts laughing when he thought of himself as a half decent dj*

Just got back to Pune.OMG.What a night.
Dunno how you all can rate that performance as 7/10 cause I was totally blown away.

His flawless mixing & structure of his sets was breathtaking.
He dosen't play tracks...he just seems to play different sounds from different tracks.
Plus to do it on an Allen & Heath Mixer....man that is one tough mixer to play on.
Ivan and he had separate consoles and I think its because Ivan didn't want to play on that mixer. He only uses a DJM-500.
I tend to prefer Uplifting Trance to Prog Trance but I still liked Sasha's performance more than Vandit's gig last year.

What a journey.

On another note I dont think Nasha or Ivan are India's best.
Nasha is probably the best turntablist but not Dj IMO.

Ryan Beck & Whosane.
Talk bout a couple of blokes whose ability is wasted thanks to the disgusting music scene in India.[Its just about starting to look up]

Just give these 2 guys the freedom to tell their own story and you will be blown away-trust me.

Never seen anyone smoother when it comes to mixing[his kinda music-not the commercial crap he has to play to make a living] than Ryan and Whosane has the ability to give you a "Jhatka" every 10mins when he's in his element.I saw him play in Pune bout a 2 years ago-started off with some prog house and built it up to trance over 4 hours.Even went into Psy for bout half an hour.Quite surprising since I know he's primarily a psy Dj[which was good for me cause I'm not into psy that much]

As for the music scene in India IMO nothing will change unless the masses change and they will only change if they are exposed to good Electronic Dance Music. That will only happen if the music channels stop playin Babuji & Get Busy 20 times a day.

P.S.
I wish I could make it to Fire & Ice for their last bash but I doubt I will be able to cause December is a busy time - even for an amatuer like me.

lol ur absolutely correct!
yes i think too indian people should know their music and give any dj a chance to play what he thinks is best!
and if what he likes is what the crowd likes then thas a plus point!
i think indian dj's get blocked in the whole
"play what the crowd likes atmosphere" so as a dj ur abilities get limited, coz no dj will sound good in the music he DOSENT want to mix!
