Talking 12.13.03 : JAMES HOLDEN & Guy Ornadel @ Glow

You all better show up for this. James Holden is a freakin brilliant producer & DJ (even tho his mixing is a bit dodgy).
Expect some mind-blowing progressive-house!
err, check out Ornadel while you are there too he runs shit

and hopefully there wont be another fuxing sn0w storm!!!

www.clubglow.com for more info + directions

I've got tons o' passes to give out (and YES they WILL work for this night) if you want em

last time Holden was there he rocked it, and it wasn't packed at all, so it was a noice intimate experience, not all cluttered up with douchey sleazebags like it would be for Tiesto

SO YOU BEST BE THERE!!!!!!!!!

btw, check out Holden's new mix CD Blance 005...fuckin brilliant!

what a brilliantly fucking pointless post.
Bad image for who? the US?
if you are concerned about America's image, there are about a billion other reasons that give us a bad image throughout the world that are 100x more important that our club scene

whoa...

be calm, young grasshopper...it seems like he has a point...

He's saying that since Glow seems to be the only club in America to showcase such a quality level of international talent, and given Insomnia's shitty venue, these DJ's must think that America's clubs suck.

Now I disagree with umes23 because Holden is spinning at 2 other clubs while over here (and he has already spun at Limelight, Space Miami, and Fluid Philly already), and Ornadel comes to the US on a regular basis (and Twilo was world famous). But beema, please...with the hostility.

Posted by umes23 on Dec-08-2003 17:35:

thank you.

this is precisely what i meant, glow gets people who otehrwise don't come to the US. for that venue and all its lacking qualities to be someone's only exposure to the club scene in the U.S. is quite sad

sorry, didnt have the knowledge that holden was goin elsewhere or had been.

sad to see a reaction like this. glow's venue sucks, their sound system sucks and this rathole called insomnia has no class or ambiance whatsoever. yes there are a million things that give america a VERY bad image, but im not here to talk about politics.... and i AM talking about the club scene because that is what is relevant at a place where we discuss trance and related categories of music.

go ahead promote all you want. if you're not open to just criticism than your promotion matters to you more than the truth.

Thats b/c most of Glow's parties feature a shitty uplifting DJ... get a clue, most EDM lovers in America like HOUSE music... ITS A SOUL THING!

Posted by umes23 on Dec-08-2003 18:25:

i know a lot about house music, if that post was directed towards me.

hmmm i wonder why people on TRANCEaddict might want to discuss trance instead?

at least i know where to get my trance!

Posted by umes23 on Dec-08-2003 18:30:

yeah, bringing good trance is a noble cause in the U.S. i give the glow team credit for their efforts. i just hate their denial of the venue sucking complete ass...

and im sick of their arguments about how they invested in state of teh art sound system... yeah yeah, we haev all heard it. turns out, your investment sounds really horrible and makes a lot of people's ears hurt, and sadly lacks a lot of necessary bass for a good party vibe!!! sometimes i think they only have midrange speakers at glow!!! thats really all you hear.

dude, I could give a shit if you talk smack about Glow. I KNOW Glow is shitty...I am one of the main people on here who say so! I was angered mainly because you were straying off-topic from this thread, not to mention detracting from it's positivity...which has now been thrown completely offcourse.

If other clubs in the US don't book good talent, that is their stupid problem. My point was that a lot of people overseas have a bad opinion of the US, very regardless of our club scene. And even despite our club scene's many shortcomings, most reviews made by the DJs after playing here have been nothing but positive, and that they enjoyed their experiences.

so quit worrying about pointless crap, STFU and go see Holden cause he kicks ass!

heh, yet another reason America's scene is TEH SUCK, imo.
FUCK house, FUCK DnB...I want Techno!
and why the hell not? Techno originated in the US ffs...why is it one of the least popular kinds of EDM here then? it's a damn shame

hehe fair enough. that right there is a far more acceptable response to me. i dunno i just think it's (almost unsarcastically) sad that glow is glow. like it just sucks that the nicer clubs are what- Dream? shitty ass places that don't give a damn about bringing in the right kind of music to decent venues. if i was in dc right now, i would probably see holden... but as i am in boston freezing my nuts off and finishing off a bitchy end to the semester, i'll have to pass.

Posted by umes23 on Dec-08-2003 20:43:

btw, i agree about the techno thing.
it was made here, we should import it back in quality form!

Techno, like nearly all original forms of EDM (the "parent" genre's, so to speak) originated in the US.
Yet also like most of them, it has been embraced by overseas countries, and pushed into the shadow in it's country of origin.
Sad, really...
