Nooooooooooooo!!! not the dentist

I have to get my wisdom teeth out tomorrow morning and i'm really not looking forward to it. Not to mention i don't have insurance right now so i'm paying OVER A GRAND to go through this torture. im not really bothered by the dentist but i've heard some bad things from friends about getting wisdom teeth out. just wondering about peoples experiences doing this.

local anesthesisa you get novacaine to numb the gums and nitrous gas which is that laughing gas stuff

general anesthesia (which costs more) you get the novocaine to numb the gums and they put you to sleep

afterwards, most doctors, give you a prescription of vicodin for the pain

i'm getting knocked out with laughing gas, i told them to knock me out as long as possible. the bastards won't give me anything stronger then percacet(sp?) for afterwards, so i said they better give me a shit load of em.

tell them vicodin isn't strong enough and it gives you stomach cramps and they'll give you something stronger everytime.

I just got my 2 wisdoms taken out 3 weeks ago. Did not feel anything when he was doing it... You have nothing to worry about. It hurt a little bit the first day, but thats cause of the novacaine.

The whole process took like 11 min. 10 min for the novacaine to numb the gums, and 1 min for him to pull it out. He took this metal thing and started pushing against the tooth. And it just came out. I was like thats it???
It is very over rated if you ask me. Don't worry

It went smooth as hell, it don't even hert. Yes i've already taken 6 vicodine today so i'm felling like a champ. I can still eat anything i want, (but thats the only time it hurts) I feel so good i already started drinkin some beers to go with my vicodine. And another plus, I got 2 different orthapedict surgeons to give me 2 different perscriptions without realizing the other one did it. So i have vicodine and percocet.

Didn't we already have this thread? Anyhow, I've had a pile yanked out of my head and could have another yanked tomorrow and wouldn't really care... Last time I saw a thread like this, they gave the poor baby a week off from work. I think my comment was something like, "that's nice, I was back to work in an hour." If you get one wisdom tooth out, that's a NO GO. Go for all four at once so you don't have to live through the misery more than once. Not much misery involved with painkillers and a little alcohol, but watch the volume of alcohol so it doesn't put you out too bad... Ignore the labels, a little alcohol with painkillers won't kill you.

the drugs are awesome...ive done my fair share of drugs in my time and let me tell u nothing beats the shit the dentist gives to u....man i dunno if ill ever be able to experience that again...i almost wanted to become a dentist just to be able to have an unlimited supply of that shit

I hated getting mine out. My bottom ones were both attached to my jawbone, so it hurt like a bitch for a few weeks. Also, they didn't knock me out and only used local anaesthesia to numb the area

Ouch...that sucks, I'm on day two and it still doesn't hurt except when I eat and I haven't taken any pills yet today.

no painkillers? that is the best part of getting the wisdom teeth out..... i have had all 4 of mine taken out on separate occasions, more painkillers that way

it's not really too bad, when i had mine done they gave me valium...it was like i knew what was going on, but i just didn't care...kind of like being really, really stoned afterwards it hurts like a bitch for about a week though and your face swells up and you look like a chipmunk. ah well
