Pablo Gargano-Arcana = Second Sun-Crush?
I was listening to a recent PVD set when I realized that Pablo Gargano's Arcana has a strikingly similar melody to Second Sun-Crush...has anyone else realized this? I also remember Paul playing Arcana followed by a remix of Crush at the most recent gig here in NY and at that moment, I thought he was playing 2 mixes of Crush back-to-back....
Have a listen..and state your opinon..
Hey Suneel. The two melodies are very similar indeed. Perhaps Pablo borrowed parts of the melody and made something more to his liking.
you guys have no ear...

heh.
I hear the similarities but I guess they're just a trivial product of the formulaic trance-making process. There is no such thing as an 'original' melody in the 21st century.
oh yessssssss. NU NRG!

can't say i had noticed. infact the thought never even crossed my mind
i don't find any similarity....i love them both...really good tracks.May be the sample that it's being used from the producers are similar, but i don't think the melodies.i heard so many times these two tracks to find any similarities but i couldn't.
To be more specific, its just one portion of the main melody that is similar to Crush...if you have the Adrenaline Rush hour mix by PvD, listen between 16:15 and 16:55.... this buildup melody has almost the exact same chords as Crush!
Scott, I'm glad you hear it! I know I wasn't losing my aural abilities!
i hear it also
hehehe. i know exactly what you are referringto, and those chords have very similar rhythm and length but the melody itself that comes from whatever notes are played is most definitely not the same as crush.
it is a trivial similarity that by no means is likely to have been itentional or borrowed/jacked

| Originally posted by VisionsofPVD My point has nothing to do with which one is better, thats up to the listener, but there is a similarity b/w this portion of the melody..thats all...why else would people think that there was a mix of Crush being played by PvD? |
anyone can "recognize" the similarity.
my point is that its just not the same. somebody can probably give you the musical notes without thinking and prove teh melody, although it might sound the same, is in actuality quite different. its easy to hear similarities like this, it takes a better listening to understand why they are NOT the same.
and to me since the first time i heard arcana, its just not Crush and doesnt have anything to do with it.
