Scumfrog rocks! Had the pleasure of seeing him this past summer while cruising the NYC waterways. Party of the year for me.

from what i heard about last night crobar is the sickest club in nyc. no competition even close to it.

Ditto. The sound system is suppose to be unreal. One piece of advice I heard is to get there early so you won't be stuck for hours in line. I'm looking forward to visiting to compare it to Koolhaus's sound system in Toronto - which I think is the best I've heard so far.

i heard a rumor jes from motorcycle perfromed as the rush comes there last night? if this is true, i am DEFINITELY going to it asap! evan, you must take me dear!!

Posted by EV Junkie on Jan-12-2004 17:12:

bitch it isnt a rumor I was there and I told you! I posted a separate thread about it today before i saw this...so let's talk about it there.

As for Crobar, it is fucking amazing. I go there alot, and was there this past friday and saturday. Dont worry about line, the place is so goddamn big---ive only seen a big line once.

waxman, their resident, is absolutely amazing, this is true---so fun.....people go check this place out it is debauchery!!

anything goes too. check this place out before it gets raided and ernds up tight as hell like Arc. i wont reveal, just go see for yourself.

You will not be disappointed with Crobar, it is the single best venue in New York City. And it is the only venue with a nitrous machine, that shooots incredibly cold fog through the entire place (80 foot cielings, people, its unreal) like Space in Miami! If anyone has been to Space, they know how great this is...

Check out my colleagues review of Crobar on Cooljunkie---here is a link

I left something out here....

Crobar, in my opinion, is a venue that finally gives you your MONEY'S WORTH for paying a cover charge....they have returned the theatre of the asurb to NYC....things go on there that are just, well, absurd....from suprisde live acts to dancers in pods to boy george running around the bar to bartenders dancing on the bar to light shows and other rancorous extravaganzas...

I met with Dirk Van Stockholm, their Marketing Director, and he explained somethings to me that really give us a lot of hope for NYC in general, and our nightlife....Crobar is really novel for us in that it really gives you an experience, rather than a concert hall type deal like Roxy...headline DJ, dance, watch, light here and there, go home. NOT the case at Crobar....no way! there are employees dancing around with flags, people prancing about doing funny things, acts come on spontaneously on the big stage up front, and there are lots of elevated boxes about where patrons can climb up and dance on....even in front of the speakers --- and let me tell you, I was dancing on one of those this past saturday and the music is so loud it was literally shooting through my body...

no one bothers you, bouncers are there to be kind and considerate, can you believe that?? im sure they have their moments, but an aspect of training at this venue is to be considerate to US, the patrons, because we are actually spending money here...Fuck all the venues that have been treating us like shit over the past two years....Crobar and Avalon do not do this, and if you get shitty treatment at either venue it is either because you are on some drugs and seem pushy or just caught the man or woman on a bad moment...trust me....I go to both of these venues every single weekend and have sat down with them and had lengthy discussions about their goals and what makes them stand out as new venues in manhattan with new missions to help fuel the fire that has been sparked in our nightlife renaissance as of late...

Here is a quote from Dirk himself...I have been saving this for an article but fuck it, i think it's worth sharing now too--

"Crobar is an entertainment package...we are bringing the show back to NYC...This is not a concert hall, and we are here to offer the best in music, staff, service...and the theatre of the absurb."

Yepper motorcycle sung for David's birthday..the place went BALISTIC, at 3am...we flew in from Toronto for this, and WAXMAN never disapoints...WOW!

Waxman is awesome, id never even heard of him until Crobar opened here. He is spinning again this saturday. Fri nite is Murk boys spinning. (Oscar G and Robert Falcon.)

Posted by Trancer on Jan-14-2004 04:15:

I've been there once...

and would definitely go again - it is a great venue - the Phazon in there puts Roxy's to shame - so clear - the sound - i just didnt hear any feedback or distortion at all - and the place is just as big as Roxy if not bigger - Yahel on Christmas Eve is when i went - Yahel was pretty good too - I definitely recommend to any TA who hasnt gone to Crobar to go check it out
