Nooooooooooooo

Don't buy that crap

Everyone will tell you this.............go all or none
don't be wasting time with the cheap crap.....it's not worth it
try ebay for deals on some tec-decks and mixers
if you wanna try and save

Vestax and Technics

Smiley DJ

Yea you are better off buying the quality products....

def get a pair of technics. u can get em used off ebay, the things are bricks and will work fine with a few years behind em.
if your short cash, just get a cheapo mixer. you can always upgrade that later. and for learning beatmatching which is what you're gonna do first you don't need anything top-end.

i recommend a decient pair of needles as well. don't go using some 3 year old pair the ebay guy decided to throw in as an extra bonus.

I'm kinda in the same situation...

I'm considering buying a Phat Pack from Numark...
Two TT-100 turntables and a dm1001X mixer, headphones
and monitor speekers (380W)... is $599 worth it?

Numark is alright isn't it??

KarateKid im a loser

I'm planning on getting Stanton str8-80's any objections?

Posted by DJ Sunburn on Jul-26-2001 01:43:

Smiley DJ oh yeah

as for the Numark thing, i think any of those things that come in a box are supposed to suck and be mostly for like 10 year olds. i dunno. never used it before.

i read a small article in wired magazine and they put it there nicely in three catagories... here's kinda what it said

First Class = vestax the new pdx2000, quality wise they are the best (so the say) they are built and preform better than anything out there
roughly $600

Business CLass = the technics 1200 mk2 most people swear by them and they are used practicaly everywhere.
roughly $500

Economic Class = Stanton Str-80, they mimic the technics and have a few other feathers. still of very high quality.
roughly $300

thats kinda how it is really at least from what i've read fomr you guys, so it looks like wired (a science magazine!) is pretty on the dot

Talking thanks

thanks for that cool article. i feel better about going for the str8-80's now. I haven't actually heard them ranked yet.

so waht are good beginer ones, I wanted to buy that numark dj in a box thing but kinda drifted away from thinking of messing around. which i want to really do just do some beat matching for run, i wont plan on doing anything serious though. But its hard to find good trance records around here in the US.

Satan (eek!)

alright.......it's time for me to save up $$$.
thanx for the advice guys...........

Posted by DJ Sunburn on Jul-26-2001 12:50:

KarateKid Yeah just save.

Yeah just save is what I'm doing. It's best to start out with Stanton str8-80's and even better to go for Tech's or Vestax.
If you're a teen that's too young to have a job you're starting your DJ career at the right time.
What I'll do is buy the str8-80's with a cheap mixer. Get a good mixer for Christmas, buy 1 vestax or technics next year around this time, and then get 1 more around Christmas.
But that's just my plan.
