Unhappy Last Post function in user profile

It has been disabled for months. What's going on?

what's the use of this function anyway?

Posted by arctic on Dec-13-2003 12:09:

Yeah I noticed that as well, kinda annoying, as it's interesting to see when people last posted without going through the 'search all posts' page.

it got disabled as it created more quiries on the database i think, taking it off has made things a bit faster for the server im guessing

yeh, the slowingdown of forumness outweighed its usefullness by 100 times

Posted by arctic on Dec-14-2003 00:44:

SO that was what was causing the massive delays between hitting 'submit reply' and it going through to the thread then was it?

In that case, for the love of god keep it off

Posted by arj1o1 on Dec-14-2003 10:03:

since the forums were 2 times down for a couple of hours in the last 2 weeks i think the forums slowed down a bit so it has been disabled to speed the servertr a little bit up

Posted by Swamper on Dec-14-2003 23:54:

The forum being down twice was related to a DNS issue at server reload time (log rotation @ 4:15 AM EST).

...the last post function is disabled because the way vB is set up is inconsistent... Sometimes it will display right away and other times it will take forever and bottleneck the server.

so why don't you just remove it completely instead of showing 'This feature is temporarily disabled.' ?

my guess is the reindexing of the search may help to bring this back
