Best Fighter Plane Game?

Ive always wanted a decent flying fighter plane style game, but never found one. any suggestions?

...not sure if it's a simulator you're after, or just something to shoot planes

otherwise, falcon 3.0 and mods are prolly still the most realistic jet sim, while il-2 sturmovik/forgotten battles is a great ww2 sim

i read a review for lock on, and it didnt read very well, very querky and seemed unfinished. ill check out reviews/demo's for the others u mentioned! ice cream baby!

Secret Weapons Over Normandy is a decent easy to use combat flying game if you are interested. Not quite the ultra-sim though, more story based. Real WW2 planes though.

Just uninstalled it (Forgotten Battles). Buggy, even after patch. Didn't like it.

Some of the visuals are nice though.

i think the latest (and final?) is 4.0 i heard its source got jacked and now with the source the game is better over all. although it may be a different game im thinking of.

buy Falcon 4.0 at ebay (with the manual you will need it) ~$15
got to www.frugalsworld.com -> check the forum
watch for a thread called "SP3 the total install"
read it
you have to download mods they are called
SP3
Free Falcon 2
and BMS 1.0
and some eye candy like new world textures and cockpits
its a little bit difficult to look through
because there are millions of mods for this game
and with these add ons its the best flying fighter plane style game
and the most realisticall ever made

i totally prefer and recommend this

i'm really into secret weapons over normandy from lucasarts at the moment - lots of fun and not to taxing on the simulation front - not to everyones taste though so if you are looking for something more involved then go elsewhere

They are making 5. Theres info about it at gamespot.com.
